Good...just plain good! Big sandwiches, yes. Fast service, yes. And the pickles are awesome!!! Only wish they had outdoor seating.

Great lunch spot near the downtown mall! The pastrami Jr sandwich was a delight and the deli mustard added a nice kick. My friend's "Reuben's cousin" was described as "pickled perfection"

This is the best Jewish food in Charlottesville. My sandwich, the Rueben's cousin, was tasty, filling and combined pickle tang from the sauerkraut with some zip from the deli mustard. Can not recommend highly enough. Will be back soon!

Reached out to this business on Facebook to arrange a neighborhood delivery and they have been super quick to respond and very accommodating. After ordering a little of everything, I'm so impressed! Potato salad was out of this world just like Grandma's, egg salad is finely chopped and delicious, black & white cookies tasted just right and fresh. Corned beef sandwich and French dip both flavorful and filling, even the smaller portion. Chocolate cake and cheesecake were big enough to split and totally worth the splurge. We will be back! So happy to support local businesses and UVA alums!

Finally a Jewish deli in Charlottesville!! This is truly a hidden gem off the main strip of the downtown mall. I am a s***** for a good sandwich and dang this place delivers. We went here for lunch so we were able to take advantage of there $9 lunch deals (entree plus a side). I got the French dip which was amazing. The au ju was flavorful and complemented the roast beef and the bread beautifully. My husband got the corned beef which he describes as "melt in your mouth good." He thought this was the best corned beef he had in a very long time. That is some high praise! As for the sides they gave me a heaping amount of French fries which were very filling. We had to take our potato carbs home after eating the sandwiches because of the amount of protein they put in them!! Love this place! I will definitely come back!

VERY happy with this find. Amazing sandwiches - I got the corned beef with swiss and my husband got the pastrami. The rye bread was amazing and packed full of meat. Super fresh, you can definitely tell they make food in house and to order. The meat really does seem to melt in your mouth; it's incredible. For lunch, I did a 1/2 sandwich with matzo ball soup (P.S. a great deal). I've actually never had matzo ball soup but it was so homey and warm. I absolutely can't wait to try other foods from this place (might need to go after writing this review).

Wow! The food was wonderful. The service was kind, caring and professional. The corned beef was so tender and tasty. The salads (chicken, egg, and tuna) were superb. French fries and kettle chips so good they would be addictive! My first time - I will be going back often. ???

Been wanting to try modern Bosh for a while. Having grown up in nj/ny Jewish delis are my favorite and was excited to see one here in town. First impression was that this was a very sparse deli. Most Jewish delis are payed out so you can pretty much see everything. Not the case here. I could not decide between the corned beef or the pastrami. I asked if I could taste either one and was told no they are too expensive. This was a first ever at a deli. I settled on the pastrami. Decent amount of meat, not a huge amount like most delis up north. The marble rye was not all that fresh the meat was ok not great and the chips they give you have zero salt on them. I have read a few reviews complaint about the price I was not afraid of it at first thinking if it is a true Jewish deli like I am used to I don't care what it costs. I was let down in a big way. Sorry to say it is unlikely I will return. I will be surprised if this place makes it in this town for very long.

Disclaimer: this review focuses on their breakfast options! Due to limited Saturday breakfast options during the winter on the Downtown Mall, we stumbled upon Modern Nosh and were reasonably satisfied. We got the corned beef hash and challah French toast with chocolate chips. As other Yelpers said, the corned beef is definitely made in house and not from a can - chunks of flavorful beef with crispy potato hash. The challah French toast came in a huge portion of three slices with chocolate chips melted in between - it was decent, but a little overwhelmingly sweet so would consider getting the raisin or plain to try instead. Their hot tea options were limited (only two herbal flavors), and my husband had the coffee which had a strange aftertaste to him. Overall, a decent but slightly overpriced breakfast.

Purchased a Reuben combo sandwich and a matzo ball soup. For $25, it's disappointing. The Reuben was a typical size but nothing stood out to make it more. The soup was bland -- no seasoning whatsoever. The chips that come with the sandwich were fine -- nice, thick cut potato chips. I'm not writing this place off entirely and plan on going back for breakfast.

Solid Jewish deli! Came here for lunch on Saturday. Pretty empty, but I imagine it's busy when school is in session. My husband and I shared the reuben latkes, sour pickles, and corned beef sammich on challah. The latkes weren't traditional at all, more like round potato balls. Still pretty tasty. The challah sandwich was comforting and satisfying.
