I'd been here once before for carryout (with a friend who's been coming here for decades) and enjoyed the food well enough that we came back a second time. Unfortunately, this visit was awful enough that neither of us will be returning. We sat down and our waitress came over pretty quickly to take our order, then went off to grab our drinks. When she returned with them, she essentially dropped them on our table while staring off at something/someone past us, muttering something incoherent as she just kept walking past to whatever had her attention. We were a bit taken aback at this sudden shift in her demeanor, but shrugged it off as no big deal since it was a bit busy and we figured she just needed to rush to help another customer. Thirty minutes later, no part of our food order had come out (though we'd watched several other tables get theirs despite arriving after us), and the waitress (older woman with ash brown medium length hair, never gave her name) hadn't checked in with us at all. I waited for another employee (also older, but blonde) to finish ringing up a carryout order, then asked her If we could get an update on our order. She checked with the cooks (who were just standing around chatting at that point because they'd run out of open tickets) and they hadn't even started it yet. She came back to tell me that it's being started now, but that orders are filled as they're received which was obviously untrue based on what we'd seen. I started to return to my seat, somewhat annoyed but willing to wait because sometimes these things happen, but our waitress chose to make a snarky comment about how "service isn't going to be as fast here as those other places you're used to!"I am generally a patient person with stuff like this, I know tickets get overlooked and mistakes are made, but the lack of accountability to be followed up with that absolute disrespect, essentially being treated with disdain for no discernible reason, that was enough to make us walk out without bothering to wait for our food.

I recently went here with a friend and had to wait due to it being a busy lunch time. We were the only ones waiting for a table for 5-10 minutes, and then a group of construction workers came in behind us. Within a minute they were greeted by a female waiter, who seemed to be very friendly with them (we were never greeted or acknowledged). As soon as the next table opened up, the group behind us cut us in line and took the table before we even had a chance to take a step. Instead of telling the workers that they were second in line, the waitress sat next to them and their booth and began talking to them. This was very disrespectful and we ended up leaving because of it. I really enjoy the burgers here but I'm not going to take my time and money to a place that only values and respects certain customers. I hope the establishment can do a better job of respecting and welcoming ALL customers, or they will start to drive away their long-term customers.

Best burgers in town, served by the sassiest elderly women alive who are over your shit and will let you know it. This is such a vibe, and if you grew up in the south, it'll feel like a little slice of home served with a side of fried pickles, which are also incredible.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME HERE - we were so excited to visit, feeling energized by the photos and reviews - and could not have been more disappointed.To start the meal, Our rude and unhelpful waitress told us the cheese balls were mozzarella, when in fact they were mediocre and cold jalapeño poppers. We then anxiously waited to see what the burgers would be like.The line cook delivered the smash burgers with his thumb pressed into the top of the burger (in gloves) after I saw him wipe his sweaty face with his sleeve. There was no charm in watching the burger clutched between his dirty thumb and a cocktail sized paper plate.The burger itself was obscenely mediocre. The patty had no flavor and relied on the grilled onions, cheese and bacon to do the work. Even with the cheap price, you are better off at McDonalds.No-frills history and tradition cannot make up for poor service, questionable service, mediocre food, and the most overrated burger in Charlottesville.
