Setting is nice, but menu selection is limited. Food is overpriced for the small portions. The shrimp fritters barely had shrimp, mostly filler and can't believe they charge $16 just for grits & veggies. We were still hungry after lunch. Disappointing.

Not special by any means. Small drink selection for a place named after a drink.... Definitely overpriced too. 2 beers, an app, and 2 entrees came to $100 with tip. If the food were flavored a bit more thoughtfully and less of a cramped indoor atmosphere maybe it would've been worth something close to the 100 bucks we spent

Great outdoor space! The food is amazing and the service is 5 star. Highly recommend this place especially with our weather getting nicer.

We visited Tonic on what was probably the nicest day of weather this year, so that definitely factored into our experience. For cocktails we ordered a "wabbit-season," a G&T, a beet drink and an "al Pastor." All were fantastic but the Wabbit-season was the standout favorite. The charcuterie board was great and had unique flavors. The pork belly sandwich was really top-tier good! Service was great too. All in all, we can't recommend Tonic enough--especially on a nice day!

Always grateful for vegan options. Food was good; portions were small; a little pricey. I had the potato soup and roasted eggplant small plate. I didn’t see outdoor seating unless they share the courtyard. ?

I am so glad we decided to stop in Tonic for some late night drinks. Everything we ordered was so delicious! (western daiquiri, wabbit season, espresso martini, paloma). Our bartender was so knowledgeable and kind! 10/10

I recently dined at Tonic, but unfortunately, the experience left much to be desired. I ordered the mushroom & grits ($20) and a glass of Pinot Grigio. While the mushroom was flavorful, it was heavily breaded and fried and excessively salty, making it challenging to enjoy. The Pinot Grigio, though good, came in the smallest serving I've encountered for $12, closer to 1/3 of a glass rather than the usual half. The overall value for the price was not satisfactory, and considering these factors, I'm hesitant to revisit this establishment.

Cute and intimate cocktail bar with sophisticated seasonal / local sourced inspired fare. We had fried fingerling potatoes sprinkled with cayenne pepper and a lemony aioli that was the perfect starter, then a fancy potato bisque drizzled with olive oil and pickled onions, and a snack board of our choice that did not disappoint. Crunchy grilled bread, roasted red pepper or butter and shallot spreads, fancy vinegar based deviled eggs with garlic chips, pickled red beets.. all so good. Capped off with our favorite drinks. This would be a great first date destination.Fall in love at the Tonic❤️

Cute little place in Charlottesville proper. Food was good and service spot on. Smaller, cozy restaurant with obvious care in decorating with a holiday theme. Menu was eclectic and rather fun, with small plates, large plates and a variety of options and food types. Highly recommend the butternut schnitzel as it was decadent and cooked perfectly. The pork belly sandwich was also good and cooked well. Some decent beer on tap with also plenty of non-alcoholic other options available and a holiday cocktail list that also was intriguing ( can you say hot toddy????). Would go back again when in the area for sure.

We enjoyed our drinks and dinner at Tonic. They do a good job of having specialty cocktails. We ordered the "bees knees" and I have to say, it was the best one I ever had. The menu is so unique that there was an ingredient in every dish that I didn't know and had to ask about. That might be a drawback for some people as it is a bit risky ordering something with unknown ingredients. The outside space is pretty awesome with heaters and another bar. It was a little cold for our visit this time but we have sat out there in the past.

We called to make a reservation for 5 on a Friday eve and was only able to get a 4:30 pm reservation. We had never been here before and really only chose it because no other restaurants in the area were available.Unfortunately, when we arrived, there was no one at the hostess podium so we thought we should just go inside the door. We were quickly “shooed” back out the door only to have the hostess follow us out and then decided it was appropriate to be escorted back inside. We were the only ones inside besides one lady sitting alone. We ordered, was served and enjoyed conversation until about 6 pm, so in those 90 minutes we never saw another party come in so we were left very confused as to why we could not have had a later reservation. All in all, the food was good, but pricey for the amount served. It was just difficult to get over the initial first impression left with us upon our arrival and the confusion of why we could not have had a later reservation.

I had dinner here on Saturday, and the cozy outdoors atmosphere was our favorite part. The snacks/appetizers were yummy, but we weren’t very impressed by the entree portion of the meal or the service. For cocktails, I’d recommend sticking to the cocktail list. They do advertise serving classic martinis on their website, but I was pretty disappointed in the dirty vodka martini I ordered which came out crystal clear and super heavy on the vermouth. When I asked the server about it she told me they do atleast a full ounce of vermouth in every martini they make. To remedy the situation, she brought me over a shot glass with a teaspoon of brine. I passed on finishing the martini and ordered the Porch Punch instead which was very tasty.

One of my favorite restaurants in 757 right now. All the drinks are so good. I highly recommend their Apples to oranges or the Negroni, since it is a two drink minimum. The speakeasy is my favorite part. The decor and vibes are everything you would expect and then some. Great customer service.. Overall excellence establishment for a sexy and sultry date night.
