Hands down the Best Fried Chicken in Charlottesville and surrounding area. Prices are extremely reasonable and food tastes great! I haven’t had anything from there yet that wasn’t great.

Really excited that they added kids meals! Such a good deal - 7.50 for 2 tenders, fries, drink, applesauce packet and cookie.
Can't believe the old menu board is gone though!! They have new TV menus now
Everyone should know this by now but their fried chicken is awesome & desserts just like how Grandma used to make

The fried chicken and sides we got were very good. Second time eating there. Their homemade desserts are to die for.

Everything was delicious as always but very upset I didn’t receive everything in my order. I didn’t receive the nesquik chocolate milk for the kids meal (which had an extra charge). I also did not receive the 2 orders of potato wedges with the 8pc instead I was given a order of fries. As well as an 8oz of ranch and a children’s ranch that was missing

The fried chicken is just sad. Barely fried just greasy. Mashed potatoes are terrible. This place could be so good but it’s not.

Food is always delicious but quality control on deluvery of order needs improving. Twice I've got home only to find missing items. This time no bread.

What I witnessed outside of Wayside Chicken and Durty Nelly’s was completely disgraceful and absolutely unacceptable. A white Mazda had blocked in a silver infinity—a car I know belongs to an employee. Instead of handling the situation like a professional, the employee and her husband—a husband-and-wife pair clearly associated with the business—chose to explode in public.

The husband flew into a rage, yelling, cursing, and even screaming racial slurs in front of a full patio at Durty Nelly’s. The worst part? The person who parked the car wasn’t even at Durty Nelly’s. They were shouting at the completely wrong people. Their behavior wasn’t just out of line—it was abusive, humiliating, and flat-out disgusting.

If this is how your staff and their spouses conduct themselves in public—acting like absolute buffoons, throwing around hate speech—what kind of standards does this business hold? What kind of culture are they promoting behind the scenes? Because from the outside, it looks like zero professionalism and zero accountability.

I don’t care how good your food or drinks are—no business should be represented by people this unhinged and aggressive. If I were the owner, I’d be ashamed to let these people wear my name. After witnessing this behavior, I will never spend a dime here again, and I would strongly advise others to do the same.

Atmosphere? Mostly chill… until closing.

Just a heads-up: parking is tight, and I highly recommend giving the staff their own clearly marked VIP spots — maybe even cones, flashing lights, and a velvet rope — so there’s no confusion. Trust me, you don’t want confusion.

Everyone has hard days. But when someone tries to de-escalate and the response feels like it could turn into a whole different kind of night, that’s when it stops being dinner and starts being damage control.

I respect the staff. I see the stress. I’ll give them their space — and their parking spot. I just won’t be back to see what happens if someone else forgets to.

first time and will probably be the last, we are folks who enjoy finding location places (doesn't matter the style or what they are servicing ... meaning like BBQ or burgers, or chicken, just has to be good and makes you wish to go again) that are yummy good to eat. we took it to go and ate it at a location park, decent view. the chicken was not tough, it was super tender, warm out of the takeout container (hush puppies which was the best of all the items we got, the slaw was lacking as well, i was hoping for so much better, it is a neat location, not easy in easy out though, u do have to wait for the traffic, so that was kind of a letdown after it being kind of blah blah blah) and okay. but there was no flavor. guess u could add some hot sauce or something on the side, but that is not what you should have to do, the meat should be delicious. kind of like when u buy BBQ ... you should not need the sauce, the meat needs to stand on it's own, by itself. i am not looking for hot or spicy. just some flavor. my grandma Ruby would always cook chicken for Sunday dinner, i miss those days, good chicken, beans, other sides and great peach cobbler. but no 1 can even come close. sad.
