This is the best Mexican restaurant I've ever been to, from the price, the food and the service you will not be disappointed, everything about it seems authentic, it is my family's favorite place to eat and I hope that it will be your family's too!

We had dinner, ordered 2 menu items we have had before. We are regular customers. In the past the food was fantastic. On this visit, one dish was almost inedible. The other was okay but not the usual quality. I spoke to another couple with 2 children who had the same opinion. The children had chicken nuggets and liked them but the other dishes were disappointing. I'm not sure what happened but the food was inadequate. I hope it was just an off night and they are back on track.

I’ve been coming here for years and this is probably the first time I’ve had a problem. Called the restaurant back only for them to question me about what I did to the bag after I left lol. Kept the bag literally how they gave me, didn’t drop it, didn’t turn the bag over. When I got home and opened it up was spilled into the bag, the beans were literally covering the burritos.

Excellent service, atmosphere, and the food was just delicious ? We found our new favorite place even if we have to drive 45 minutes to get there . Thank you El Campestre

Very good food. We enjoyed their food so much we returned a second time during our week long vacation. Very large portions at very reasonable prices. After reading others reviews we agree their standard salsa is not great so we asked and received their brown hot and spicy tomatillo salsa, which was nice for dipping. On the first visit I had the Carnitas Dinner and on the second visit the 'Fajitas Texanas. My wife loved their mole sauce with the Chiles Poblanos The Carnitas were very large and plentiful chunks of tasty pork. I am picky with restaurants but I recommend this one for inexpensive Mexican food. Our servers were really helpful too on both visits.

Good food, friendly staff, fast service \\u0026 reasonable prices. The Mexican rice and beans are the best in the area.

Ordered chicken, cheese, rice. Received mushy rice, warmed up -dry chicken. 1/3 of regular portions. No cheese. No fork, no napkin, no salt, no pepper. I WAS SICK IMMEDIATELY AFTER EATING IT. Until I swallowed several Imodium tablets. Bad stomach pains (not cramps) paid approx $23. Called. Manager/owner/whom ever, never called back. Zero care. Don’t eat there.

Food was average. Wait staff was inhospitable. If you want Mexican food make the short drive to exit 19 in Abingdon.

One of the owners of this restaurant is from Mexico, apparently, as we have heard. However, the definition of Mexican food here in the Eastern part of the country seems to be different from what Mexican food really is. Therefore, they cater to the local market and offer relatively mild salsas. For example, the salsa that comes out with the chips is very tomatoed and mild. If you would like a hot salsa you must ask for it, and then put it on the rest of your meal. Chile rellenos, here for example, are very different apparently. They are not a hatch chile, stuffed in cheese, in an egg batter, and maybe have a sauce on top. If you would like something like that, order the pablano chile relleno. Here the pablano was covered in a red chile sauce which was quite nice. In another local Mexican restaurant, the pablano chile relleno had a pasta type red sauce on it. OK. If you would like a burrito smothered in a green sauce, it comes with a green tomatillo sauce, not a green chile sauce. Maybe they don't get Hatch green chile in this part of the country? The chilequiles came with a chicken topping, but no egg. See the difference? But, overall, the dining experience was excellent here, especially when one adds the spicy salsa to most everything. Prices, even compared to Mexican prices are very low. The service quality is high, and the speed in which the food is served is amazingly quick. We recommend this restaurant, but you need to know the differences between Mexican food here, and Mexican food there in Mexico and the Southwest USA.
