WAY OVER PRICED FOR A ROTTEN PUMPKIN EXPERIENCE.
Nearly every pumpkin (like 30 in total for the whole farm) was rotten and it was a crazy expensive experience. $25 to walk through a treacherous patch and pick out your very own rotten pumpkin from Cinderella's black out night out on the town from 3 weekends ago.
Clean, friendly, great service, excellent food and products.
Great pick your own peaches! Also soft ice cream, donuts, tap room and products. Has a fun, farm store vibe, but with a strong day trip thing going on. Tour busses literally stop here as well as the many mini vans and SUV's full of families on an outing, so it can be crowded.
Don't get too excited about the ice cream, it's not the old fashioned, hand-churned, homemade farm style ice cream I was hoping for. This is soft serve mix with peaches added, but it's still fun. The tap room had ciders from local breweries when I was there.
Definitely worth the trip during peach season, whether to pick your own or just pick up peaches from their store.
During apple season I have a great variety of apples, including some local varieties that are unique to the area.
Absolutely a beautiful place!
Great family fun. We loved the doughnuts!!!!
Apples were crisp and beautiful in size and color. Didn't have to fight crowds.
We had the best time tasting and learning about all the types of apples. The nice girl that helped us was very informative. And it seems like she liked her job alot! Please try the seasonal turkey sandwich. It was amazing. We got the apple cider donuts, apple cider, apple butter, and 3 types of apples!
Apple-picking has been a family tradition and for years we’ve been coming to Chiles. However, this year was very disappointing. The exorbitant fees just to get in along with the high prices for PYO (based on number of people, including little kids?!) makes taking a large family too expensive. To top it all off, not letting parents bring strollers or diaper bags with necessities like water is ridiculous (trying to carry young kids, keys, phones and water bottles along with bags and boxes of apples was too much!) It’s not a family friendly experience anymore and felt like the focus was on making money from the customers. Sadly, this tradition is not worth it anymore (at least at Chiles). My family and I won’t be back.
My family and I have been coming to Chiles for years but we won’t be back after this year’s experience. Parking was alright but $9 per person for entry? That’s steep. We bought our tickets ahead online and shouldn’t have, as it cost us an additional $1 per ticket for a processing fee. We have two toddlers in our group, and it was quickly clear that this wasn’t a place for little kids. The staff at the ice cream shop was dismissive and unfriendly. We paid $5.40 for a single small cup of vanilla ice cream with sprinkles. That’s high, but okay, it’s for the “experience”. The farm store had almost all of the fun kid toys and items removed that they’ve had in the past. The kids loved walking around last year but this year we were in and out in 5 minutes.
The apple picking is where it really went downhill. There were no available wagons, so we had to walk back to the car to get our own. We did notice that they also now have signs in their wagons that say that kids aren’t allowed to ride in the wagons, but they also don’t allow strollers in the orchards…..okay. The landscape and walking paths have not been repaired after years of use so my grandma wasn’t able to join us as she couldn’t navigate her walker around easily and our toddlers were tripping the whole way down and up.
We went to purchase bags for apples and wow, $16 for a small bag of pink lady apples?! That’s an insane price. We found that every pink lady tree had been picked over and we couldn’t reach any of the apples as they were at the very top of the tree, so that’s a shame to sell pricier bags specifically for those apples when no one of average height can reach them.
Here’s the really ridiculous part…I was told that I could not bring my diaper bag in (a small crossbody bag that is literally only big enough to hold my daughter’s change of clothes as she is freshly potty trained, her water bottle and my wallet - that I certainly needed to spend $$$ there...). I tried to explain that to her, but the cashier was smug about saying no, and told me I could either take it back to my car or they’d hold it for me there at the shed. Hand my bag to a stranger? No thanks.
If apple stealing is a concern (why else would you not allow bags in?), then why not allow clear bags, as so many other places do? I walked back to the car again to drop my stuff off, and then they watched me so intently as I walked back in that I actually called out to them that I put the other bag away and they didn’t need to watch me like that.
The takeaway - if you come with kids, expect to hand carry all your loose belongings plus their bottles, diapers, wipes, etc, plus your apple bags or (yikes!) boxes, plus your kids when they get tired of navigating the rough orchard paths. It’s just not a family friendly place anymore and it sadly felt like a money grab from start to finish with the intent to get us in and out as quickly as possible. We will save the 1.5 hour drive next year and support our local orchards instead.
Nice, less crowded than Carter mountain.

Fun place to bring SO or family. Huge apples and the dessert shop was also pretty cheap. Would recommend!
To other reviewers out there complaining about not being able to bring a bag or to do a bag check. Bag checks require too much man power/time for the amount of traffic going in and out. Just make it easy and leave your big bags/purses in the car. No one wants to steal a $1 lip balm from you. This obviously to stop people from taking more than they should. I don’t understand how people don’t get that.
Also the lady who was upset saying she was going to take her business to Charter mountain needs to do her research on the company of Chiles/Charter…
Also saw a fat caterpillar here. That dude was chilling.
Was there about 2.5 weeks ago. Never had issues with any purchases but we bought a bottle of homemade root beer and some peach cider donuts. The root beer was incredibly sweet I couldn’t drink it all. The donuts were completely void of taste, dry, and crumbled when tried to eat and there was no expiration date or time stamp on any of them and that should have been my fist clue. Someone was exchanging a box of donuts and that should have been my second. I will probably go again because it is beautiful but will be extremely selective with any purchase and definitely will not buy an premade items. I was physically sick for a day and a half and, since I have a family member who is a chef, it was most likely a touch of food poisoning. Be safe Chile’s and don’t get greedy.
I can't remember the name of the young man that help me, but he was extremely helpful and very knowledgeable about the products. It made our day.
Very friendly place and the apples was the best part
We visited the store and they had apples for purchase as well as apple cider donuts which were delicious. They had pumpkins for sale. The store was loaded with fun things to buy and yummy things to eat.
