What a fantastic spot! I had some of the best pizza I've ever had here! The toppings were fresh and plentiful, the crust was tasty and perfectly toasty, and the sauce was full of flavor, well- seasoned, and added with perfect balance to the rest of the pizza. I've eaten a lot of pizza from coast to coast, and this is simply the best! As if that wasn't enough, the staff was helpful, friendly, and provided excellent service. As an added bonus, we got to meet the family who had owned and operated Sal's since it opened decades ago. We had great conversation where I learned about the history of the restaurant, the family, and many great stories about their experiences within the community. I entered the restaurant as a stranger, but left feeling like family. I couldn't give a higher recommendation, based on the excellent food and service!

Generous portion sizes at great prices

A large calzone is sufficient for two adults

The margarita pizza is not a standard margarita pizza as it seems to have grated cheese in addition to sliced fresh mozzarella, as well as a generous amount of garlic. Still good, just not what I expected.

I usually get a double cheese burger and fries which has always been great.had a bad wait time once but can be expected at times but I like my pizza a Lil more crispier and it was a Lil to doughy and not enough crunch.but still good prices and great place to eat and will still recommend them.

So I love this place I'm a regular. They recently messed up on my order( small just no seasoned fries). I called today to get the remake. Well they remade the orders of fries and we purchased our subs. I guess the cooks in the back thought it would be funny to dump seasoning all over them to the point that they were inedible. So I guess they solve the problem by creating a new problem. We only ate the sandwiches again. I never had a problem here in the 9 years I've lived here. And this time I got pictures.

I have eaten at this restaurant since highschool. So about 30 years! Recently we go about once a week for pizza or a sub. The service is always amazing. The atmosphere is casual and welcoming. Sals has the best pizza and subs in the Charlottesville area, it truly is a hidden gem. I love they have kept the ownership in the family so you always know the recipes are still the same and you always have the same hometown feel. Very nostalgic ! Brings back so many great memories and I leave satisfied every single time! If you have never been here I highly recommend! Keep up the good work! 🩷

So I went here with my 2 year old son, my girlfriend and her grandmother. Ordered the veggie Sicilian for her and I, and grandma got the baked ziti. Got the single slice of cheese pizza for our son quickly (thankfully). The Sicilian and ziti took about an hour. They served the ziti with 2 slices of what i can only guess was sargentos sliced cheese melted on top, and the veggie pizza came out with raw veggies on top. The crust was hard, sauce was bland, veggies were fresh veggies, but completely raw. Now if our server keeps coming out telling us our pizza is in the oven but it's taking awhile, explain to me why all of the toppings were raw. And if you care even the slightest about food quality, in what world do you think it's a good idea to put two pre-sliced pieces of cheese on top of a pasta dish? We sent the pizza back because my grlirlfriend and I both took one bite and refused to eat it. I'm not the type to send food back either. I've worked in the restaraunt industry for 17 years and I understand better than anyone the struggle of working in a kitchen, so I don't like to go hard on food that wasn't exactly right, or leave negative reviews. I usually just eat it and keep my thoughts to myself. The flip side is, as a kitchen manager, I can pick apart a meal and deduce the process that the cooks followed to prepare my meal. My guess? You cooked the pizza without toppings for the majority of the time, put the toppings on, popped the pizza back in for 3 to 5 minutes and served it. Don't. It was trash. Would never recommend this place. And in what world did you think it was a good idea to throw two slices of generic mozzarella on top of what was (according to grandma) a decent baked ziti? Can't wait to hear from whomever handles the google account for this place. I'd love a step by step of how you instruct your kitchen employees (the woman in a crop top and yoga pants and the 2 teenage boys) to make a veggie pizza, and why you made those decisions. Side note: service was decent, but I don't think people come to restaurants just for good service, they come for the food too.
