Staff was friendly and made suggestion to get veggie fajita bowl without dairy (queso fresco, baja sauce). I added salsa (free) and a tortilla ($1). It already includes tater tots, which gave it a nice breakfast feel. Much more flavor than expected, and thoroughly satisfying. Updated from previous review on 2025-06-18
Delicious grilled shrimp tacos
Mexican place with trash food, service, and no where to sit. Customer service is atrocious. Food is dripping with grease.
What a joke. Buy food, half the seats are reserved, so you can't eat in.
Shitty portions and greasy food. Run
Pleasantly surprised. Chorizo breakfast taco was good. Fair prices and good taste especially considering it’s at an airport.
The manager is a disrespectful person. A few seconds after finishing eating, he asked us to leave.
food horrible service bad!!! definitely avoid when coming to the airport
This is the worst Taco place I have ever been to. The crew members have no interest in serving customers. I ordered veggie tacos and they were tasteless. I had to ask twice to get mild sauce. They wouldn't give me water cup unless I pay. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

Indian dude was rude we had order chick filet for our daughter and we were going to order food from there. He kicked us out from the table telling us chick filet was not allowed there.
first point to consider: this joint is in an AIRPORT.
second point to consider: i am a san diego, ca native of 30yrs.
first point considered; this Rusty Taco was the best part of my first Dulles International Airport experience. airport staff? rude af. airport quality? yuck. Rusty Taco was a much desired oasis where i found delightful people who were actually pleasant to speak to and engage with. MADHU was my server and he couldnt have been more polite. even though the restaurant was overly full, he found the time and patience to serve me and was extremely friendly. the AIRPORT STAFF could take notes from him. MADHU'S suggestions were perfect for me. im on a family trip so the extra strength margaritas were much appreciated.
second point considered: i had two of the philly tacos. considering my san diego lifestyle, the tacos were quite good. meat was tender and tasty and the veggies were crispy. filling:tortilla ratio was excellent; only two tacos were enough to fill me up and keep me happy until boarding! MADHU warned me of the one "hot" salsa and it was well warranted. it had enough kick to keep me alert long enough for my flight after a 2hour wait. the margaritas again were tops.
i am hoping to get to a full-sized Rusty Taco one day to get the full experience!

The food here was awful! I asked for no onions and got onions. I guess someone in the kitchen wants to cause someone with allergies to have medical issues.
I have no idea what seasonings they use, but they sure aren’t Mexican spices. I grew up in a border area eating Mexican food and this certainly was no fajita steak burrito. I will never go there again!!! I travel a lot and have a do not eat list in my phone. Sadly Rusty Taco just got added to it!
I just wish I had checked reviews before I ordered.

I chose not to duplicate the many photos already included in past reviews, but focus primarily on the food and the service. I do not seek, or expect to find spacious accomodations, cheap prices or extremely compact ambiance in an airport economy - this is simply not reasonable. What I do seek and what I found was courtesy, speed, respect, and tasty, quality food. The girl that took my order was fast, but patient, and commanded an IQ worthy of a much higher paying job or a more challenging role. I ordered the chicken taco fave. Everything about it was fresh, flavorful and a bit zesty. Many great dishes and most real food, in a fast-food setting, simply are not designed to look pretty, yet taste delicious. While priced fairly similar to most airport meals, I found this to be great quality - the quality and volume of the chicken, the pico de gallo, the queso, were all perfect... none overpowered or detracted from the other. It was a perfectly balanced dance of cullinary expertise. Two of these (an order) presented a satisfying portion size. Although I prefer to seek new experiences each meal out, the Rusty Taco will find me here again!

The manager is hella rude! Definitely needs a reality check on how he treats people. I literally was just yelled at for not noticing at 6 am that you have to request corn tortillas. Maybe have your staff ask do you want that on flour or corn. Also I saw the chicken that came with the fajita chicken tacos, I probably dodged a bullet to the bathroom for hours from the clearly microwaved chicken.
Seriously the manager needs a harsh reality check, don't waste your money here

This place is fantastic. You don’t expect customer service at an airport restaurant. You get it here. They are adequately staffed, they manage surge periods by circulating in the crowd, always ensuring everyone has a drink. And the food is really good. Grilled shrimp tacos are great, and their margaritas are stout.

We were first time guest today at 0630, we spent $40 for two entrees,a churro and a coffee. The food seemed cooked fresh and the churro was good.Service from the young ladies at the register was stellar. While waiting for our food we sat on the far side of the bar away from the main area, especially because we're didn't order an alcoholic beverage. There was not a battender present. However, nothing states that you cannot eat in the area. The manager ruined the experience. He came from the kitchen to the bar area and started slamming down the metal "reserved" placards loudly, making so much noise, dropping them on the floor. Then he goes to his employees to talk about the people sitting to eat with reading the signs. At this point there are 5 people total sitting and eating away from the front side of the bar. Finally a guy in a suit comes and gets a beer and would you believe that the manger spoke to him in a nice, professional, regulated tone. We would have ordered an alcoholic beverage if it was necessary but after being stared down and treated like an inconvenience, we'll go elsewhere for food or libations in the future. You could have talked to us like people instead of being disregulated and passive aggressive.
