Food is ok typical rotisserie chicken, sauces and side left room for improvement, assumed beans would be refried but were baked beans, yuka was good, sauces were very bland, they don't seem to be able to handle larger takeout orders in person

My family loves this place. We eat here often and the food is consistently high quality. The service is friendly as well.

Stopped by expecting the same Pollo Rico quality as the Maryland locations — big mistake. The menu was super limited (no arroz chaufa at all), and the place just didn’t feel inviting. Service was not friendly, and nothing about it made me want to stay. I didn’t even order I walked out. This spot seems to be using the name, but that’s about it. Definitely not worth the visit.

This Pollo Rico location has consistently provided poor service. Every time we request dark meat, we’re met with pushback. Today, the staff went as far as to claim they had no dark meat available at all and insisted we take white meat instead. It’s frustrating to be told we have to accept something we don’t want especially when we’re paying for it. The customer service here is extremely poor compared to the Arlington location, which is much more accommodating and respectful.

This place is great everytime I go. Dining in is my favorite way to enjoy this place as they seem to fill the side cups a little more since there is no top. The chicken is always fresh and cooked to perfection. The sauces are delicious everytime. Very kid friendly with the colorful chairs, ample seating and clean high chairs. The people taking the orders are very kind and funny. Takeout is very good. Easy to just call your order in or order fresh when you arrive. In and out in 5-10 minutes depending on how busy they are. Would highly recommend!

The food here is consistently good — the chicken especially. However, as others have mentioned, the customer service leaves a lot to be desired. I’ve visited multiple times, and each time I order two whole chickens (one all dark meat), I get pushback from the staff. Today, I was flat-out told, “No, we have too much white meat — we need to get rid of it,” even though the option to order all dark meat is clearly listed on their menu.
Eventually, they gave me one whole chicken as requested and the second one with three dark pieces and one white, which still defeats the purpose of offering the all-dark option. The experience also seems to vary depending on who’s working, but today was the worst. I really want to rate the food higher, but the consistently poor service makes it hard to give a better overall rating.

⭐☆☆☆☆ Horrible Experience – Never Again
If I could give zero stars, I would. I had one of the worst customer service experiences ever at El Pollo Rico in Fairfax. The staff was rude, dismissive, and completely unhelpful from the moment I walked in. To make matters worse, the manager Julie was shockingly unprofessional. Instead of resolving the issue, she made things worse with her attitude and lack of concern.
I’ve never felt so disrespected as a paying customer. There was no apology, no effort to make things right – just blank stares and excuses. I will never be returning and I’ll be telling everyone I know to avoid this place at all costs. El Pollo Rico might have decent food, but it’s not worth the terrible treatment.
Do better.

I like the chicken but sadly do not care for any of the sides. I would normally pick slaw or beans but their coleslaw is swimming in mayo, and their beans have tons and tons of soggy cilantro floating in them (I can’t stand cilantro). Since I’m not a fan of rice, I will just have to order fries (so unhealthy 🫤). I wish there was an option to just buy the chicken only. I was told “no” when I asked about that. But the chicken over is very nicely seasoned, juicy. 4/5 for that, considering the price since I don’t like the sides.
