My long awaited review... so sorry to whoever served me that day because it's been a bit and I've forgotten your name (apologies please). This is my 5th time eating at Gyu Shige as my last two times were in the Rockville location. It was a busy night but my server was quick and responsive by bringing our requested meat dishes, and explaining their personal favorites for drinks and appetizers. Restaurant setting, in my opinion, has been the same, with conversations left and right --truly withholding the essence of Japanese bbq which is enjoying the fine meats cooked for you but also chatting with friends and family. For anyone who seems to be stuck on the price. You just have to understand that "you get what you pay for" meaning every dime you spend on this meal, the experience and food are definitely worth while. That's all I have to say and I hope other people have the same positive experience I had!

Great food, even better drinks. Fantastic date spot. A bit in the pricey side for the quality of food.

I always enjoy coming to this place for special occasions and have never been disappointed by the food quality or service. However, on my most recent visit during the weekend, I noticed that there has been a change in management-- unfortunately for the worse. Although our server was extremely kind and professional, we were absolutely appalled by the way a female manager was berating several waitstaff quite loudly in front of our table. As someone who has worked restaurant industry, it is never okay to talk to your employees in such an aggressive and degrading demeanor. Nonetheless, in front of the customer. What we witnessed had really put a damper in our experience and made us never want to come back. I truly feel sorry for the staff here.

My expectation was high for this restaurant since a friend recommended it. Overall food quality was good, however the matcha crepe cake was one of the worst I’ve ever had - maybe it was just that batch. Didn’t like the service at all, she walked away right after a super fast intro of the menu, not allowing me to finish my question. No smile over the whole time, and the bill was brought to our table right after the dessert was served.Kid-friendliness: No kids cup or kids utensils.

So far Gyu Shige is my favorite restaurant in Virginia. The quality is outstanding and everytime I go the service is amazing. It's worth it! The wagyu cubes are my go to, and I also really enjoy the Kumamoto oysters I wish I could eat a 100 lol. It's a perfect date night restaurant

Everything was amazing and our server Sam was very attentive. We can't wait to come back with friends. We had the ceviche, seared scallop roll, filet, brisket, Nanban, flaming tuna roll, garlic butter scallops, passionfruit, and matcha crepe cake. The ceviche was a very good portion plus fun to watch when it was delivered.

Been to Guy Shige in the Mosaic District a bunch of times, and it's always a hit. This time, I grabbed some sushi, and man, it was the right move! The sushi was mega fresh, and the flavor was next level, especially with the real wasabi they grate on the spot – totally beats the regular stuff. Also had the oolong peach cream cake for dessert, and it was just perfect – the tea and peach combo wasn't too sweet or anything. On a previous visit, we tried the Wagyu. The waiter showed us how to enjoy it with a bit of pink salt and wasabi, and it was mind-blowingly good, way better than any ribeye I've had.Guy Shige is definitely my favorite spot for those special nights out. They always nail it with the food!

Kevin, our server, was absolutely exceptional!!! He was knowledgeable, courteous, and made our first experience at Gyu Shige one to remember. He knew what dishes to recommend and explained in detail how to best enjoy our meal. Grade A* service.

It was kind of trendy. Typical signature drinks, great service, awesome menu and food, as well as $$$, but worth it! I liked that the menu has its own spin and does leaving you feeling you had the same meal at another sushi restaurant.
