Jaipur Royal Indian Cuisine

If consistency is what you’re looking for in terms of good Indian buffets, this is where you’ll find it. I asked few friends about what made them keep going back to Jaipur when there are a dime o dozen Indian restaurants in the DMV, but they all said the same thing — Jaipur consistently maintains the standard. Their food is not an out-of-the-world gastronomic experience but it’s simple, Indian food that’s good to eat.
I have been to Jaipur mostly for their weekend buffet and their menu rarely changes — for appetisers, there’s always some chaat (chole, mostly), samosas, or harabhara kebabs with chicken kebab and prawns with salad. The mains are mostly jeera rice, lamb rogan josh, butter chicken, tandoori chicken, daal tadka, and a few other veg items. And for desserts, there’s mostly gulab jamun and custard/kheer. I think that’s what they do best— they don’t experiment with a lot of items and basically stick to their fixed menu with a few seasonal changes and that works for them.
Also, their ala carte menu is solid — I recommend the laal maas. All in all, the quality and taste makes it a bang for bucks good Indian buffet experience. :)

I stopped by Jaipur Royal Indian Cuisine and really enjoyed the meal. The flavors were bold and authentic — the chicken tikka masala was rich and creamy, and the naan was soft and fresh. The staff were friendly and made sure everything was just right. The place has a warm, inviting feel that makes you want to stay and enjoy.

We’ve been visiting this restaurant for over 10 years and have always appreciated the service and the food. This review is specifically for something we recently experienced and felt rather deceptive. They charged an 18% gratuity for a table of 7 for a BUFFET!! I would understand if this was dinner - but buffet??? I am getting up and grabbing the food - so who am I tipping?

I always tip 20%+ for table service, but my standard practice for tips at buffets is 15% - and that’s something I voluntarily tip, based on service. I often tip 20% when I feel that the service has exceeded expectations. But for a buffet where we’re barely being checked on, other than when they grab the plates or refill the water, and brought us the 2 bottles of wine that we ordered - this is not a fair practice.

Also, since this is not mentioned anywhere on your website, and I wasn’t notified when reservations are made - this is actually not even legal in Virginia - this “mandatory” charge needs to be disclosed beforehand. So, I will be reporting this practice to the authorities because it is deceptive and unfair to customers. Do better!

The staff were very attentive, very friendly. The food was absolutely delicious! Been here many times before and I love coming back!
