Staff that was closing 5/21 was fantastic. Made my food perfectly and were super friendly. You could tell they love what they do and care about the small details. I get the tango bowl with double beef every time I’m here and they never mess it up. Best place to get a bowl

I love these salads, and all my family went there many times. But lately their portions become not even full bowl (I’ve ordered from menu, without any changes). It’s pretty sad

I’ve contacted Roots Kitchen three times about my experience at the Fairfax location and still haven’t gotten a single response. I’ve been to other Roots spots and they’ve been great, but this location is consistently rushed, careless, and not worth the $18.
In April, I ordered an El Jefe bowl. I was literally the only customer in the store. The employee making my bowl got distracted refilling ingredients halfway through, and another employee rushed me over to pay before my order was finished. When I got back, the bowl was already closed up. I asked if the avocado and pita chips were added (which I paid extra for), and he said yes, even though he wasn’t the one making it.
Of course, I got home and opened it up and both the avocado and pita chips were missing. Just a sad, thrown-together bowl missing key ingredients. This was the second time this has happened at this location.
The real issue is the complete lack of follow-up. I emailed Roots immediately, followed up twice, and never got a reply. No refund, no apology, nothing. I’m done with Roots Kitchen. If you care about service or getting what you paid for, skip the Fairfax location or better yet, skip Roots entirely.

They often forget to make orders in a timely manner if ordered online, and they tend to forget items in the bowls. I paid EXTRA to get extra items in my bowl and they ended up forgetting 3/8 items. This isn't the first, second or third time they've messed up a bowl for me either - I ordered tofu once and they filled it with chicken, making it inedible for me as I don't eat meat. Understaffed and poor service. If you want the true roots experience, go to the one in Charlottesville.

Great flavors and perfect quantity for a healthy, filling meal! The menu was a little confusing because it was broken up into different sections rather than a cohesive, single presentation. Take some time to review all options! Like similar buffet style food vendors, substitution of ingredients is welcome but to a limited degree and may require added cost. For example, sliced jalapenos on the side were an additional charge of $0.70...but a big portion and well worth it. There are only a few drink choices - not the normal commercial soft drink options - but they were very good. I especially liked the black tea and lemonade combination! We really enjoyed Roots and will be back soon!

I get takeout from Roots AT LEAST once a week. The food is fresh, healthy, and fast.
The staff is really cool and friendly, I always get a positive vibe when I go in there. Not to mention, the food is delicious!

Hello I am concerned about how “ healthy “ the food is, Food is overall good but one huge problem. Both of the times I went here the acardin mix had rotten salad. Took it to go so couldn’t come back to return it but for this money eating rotten salad is just ... I think the kitchen should get checked cause what if the other food is like that?!

I get Roots at least once a week and it is consistently delicious and service is top notch! I have a few dietary restrictions and it is very gluten free friendly. The key differentiators of Roots to other fast casual restaurants is that they ALWAYS give great portions and the staff is so, so notably friendly! Yesterday, we went an hour before closing and there was definitely enough chicken for my bowl, but it was the last bit. Instead of giving me this, they made a new batch which was so unexpected and nice. I will always come back!
