I’ve been ordering from Roots since they opened in Fairfax and I used to love it. They had fresh ingredients, always got my online orders correct, and had consistent quality. This time, there was a big dip in quality. They were apparently bought by private equity, so of course the decline is inevitable... Portions are off, many items were missing, including items I paid extra for, and most things are either undercooked (the rice is actually hard) or overcooked. It’s disappointing how dependable the downward spiral is with private equity now.

Good place for salad bowls, however the online orders sometimes are missing ingredients (usually they forget to add cilantro lime sauce and chipotle tabasco to my el jefe bowl). The app has a discount program so I recommend the app over dining in since there isn’t a ton of parking nearby.

Exceptional customer service. These guys were very patient with my family trying to decide what to get. You can tell they love what they do, and do it with passion. They made a recommendation which my kids and I loved! We will definitely come back the next time we're in the area.

I have to kind of raise some eyebrows at some of these reviews because Roots in my opinion never misses. Me and my family routinely go and look for weekend excuses driving from DC just to stop by. What keeps us going back is that Roots is legit using the best ingredients full of flavors and different options if you are looking for healthy food. I hope to see them expand because this place is wayyyy better than your average chipotle.

My to-go salad place after trying out multiple different salad restaurants in the area. Fresh ingredients and tasty sauce on a solid price point considering it's nova, which already beat a lot of other places (looking at you sweetgreens) not to mention they pack it to the top too. Highly recommend if you've never tried it before. I usually go for the Mayweather and my friends rave about the El Jefe since they are tolerant of cilantro. There's limited parking in the front but the Plaza provides parking in the parking lot next to Giants thats a short walk away.
