i was here for a summer program and this was the place we were given to eat. the food was fine but there aren't many options for picky eaters so i ate cereal half the time. when there was something that i would eat available, the food was alright at best and bland at worst. that being said i ate at panera and ordered dunkin donuts whenever possible

Tables are wobbly and cause food to spill onto people.

Food- if there is any, it’s dogshit. I’ve gotten better from a post Machelle Obama middle school cafeteria than I’ve ever got here
Service- the staff constantly hurras people. And the ones that are normal are incompetent at best. I just now had a worker pour out my just finished coffee to fix the machine, in front of me.
Atmosphere- neither of my previous facts facilitated any welcome atmosphere.

I have been eating food in the southside dining hall from 3 months. The food here is kinda bad cuz the food that they provide is always very bland. The ice-cream machine works once in a blue moon. When I want the hot chocolate, I got hot water in the machine. The French fries are always too hard to eat. The pizza is not cooked in the right temperature. The fruit section is nice but it is very cold, it is bad for the teeth. They always put the same food. There is a shortage of plates, bowls and other utensils. There is a different bad smell near the area where we put the plates for cleaning.

I visited several university dining halls, and I think it was in the top 10%. It had the most students among all the dining halls I've visited, with a wide variety of food and delicious food.

Nice dining experience overall, though as is often the case with college dining halls, the quality is a bit inconsistent. Service is highly variable, I’ve had some good experiences, numerous neutral experiences, and a few downright bad experiences, but it’s mostly been ok. The food is usually good, though it can be somewhat variable too; I’ve had some of the best college dining hall food I’ve ever had and some of the worst I’ve ever had at this place, though again most of the time it’s pretty good.I also really like the dining atmosphere here, it’s got a nice chill & relaxed vibe, if you don’t mind the background noise of the music, and everyone else’s conversations during busy hours. My biggest complaint as a college student is the lack of outlets to plug in one’s phone or laptop. There’s only three outlets that I’m aware of, and only two of those work, and only one of those is practically accessible. I like to hang out and study here on weekends when it’s much easier to get a table next to the one good outlet. Sadly, my laptop’s limited battery life means it’s not a reliable spot to set up for a long study session on weekdays, which I would otherwise really like to do since this place has a sweet spot of ambient stimulation levels for my ADHD brain that makes it easier to concentrate for extended periods of time. Hoping one of these years they add more outlets. ?

Vegetarian options: Similar to Ike’s, the other major dining hall on campus, there is always a decent selection of vegetarian options, though the amount and quality of vegetarian dishes can vary day to day.

Dietary restrictions: They have an allergy friendly station, so students with most food allergies will have that option available.

Wheelchair accessibility: The building has a wheelchair accessible entrance. The dining hall itself is on the second floor, and there is one elevator that goes from the lobby to the dining hall entrance. The inside of the dining hall can be crowded during peak hours, but is much easier to navigate between primary meal times. There is a decent selection of accessible tables.

Southside sucks. The chocolate milk is always spoiled as if it’s not refrigerated, soda is always flat, the meat they serve is usually dry, barely any options, the pizza usually tastes like cardboard aside from late hours, and it’s only open until 10 when it should be 24/7. With how much we pay to be on campus, you think our dining options would be at least decent but Southside disappoints time and time again.
