Food was great. I had lemongrass beef and my friend had lemongrass chicken vermicelli.
Service was nice. Parking was maddening.

This restaurant has always been my favorite in town—I’ve brought many friends, colleagues, and relatives here over the years because the food is excellent and I’ve always considered it the best. Unfortunately, the customer service on my recent visit left me very disappointed.

I had heard from friends that servers have been bothering guests about tips, and my friends have stopped coming to this restaurant, but I didn’t believe it until it happened to me. Last week, I took my friends, who came from Canada, here for dinner. After our meal, while clearing the table, the server accidentally spilled fish sauce, which almost splattered on us.

We paid in cash at the counter (since they don’t accept credit cards) and left a 20% tip with the cashier. On our way out, that server stopped us and accused us of not leaving a tip. I explained that I left it with the cashier. Only after checking with the cashier did he apologize.

Still, this was an embarrassing, insulting and completely unacceptable situation. No guest should ever be stopped at the door and questioned about tipping. I’ve never experienced this in any other restaurant in all my years of dining out.

I truly love the food here and still believe it’s one of the best restaurants in town, but customer service needs improvement. Guests should never feel pressured or accused about tipping. I really hope management takes this seriously, because I would love to continue recommending this place to my friends.

I'd give this 3.75 stars. The food is renowned and for good reason - we really enjoyed some of the pancakes and a few starters. The service was really bad - maybe I'm a fish out of water as a big ole' whiteboy coming in on a Tuesday afternoon, but either you want the customer or you should send them away. All in all, this place's food is worth the hype and definitely a bargain, but they need to up their game on service.

Taro tea tasted like meat. Had to be thrown out because there had to be some cross contamination.
Spring rolls were okay though

Good authentic Vietnamese spot with some decent food for the area. I had the MI Do Bien (Seafood with Egg Noodle), Banh Xeo (Viet crepe), banh canh tom cua (crab with large rice noodle), and the pork short ribs. I thought all of the dishes were good in short, but not exceptional. Very typical Vietnamese fare food.

The Banh Xeo had tons of bean sporuts and good amounts of shrimp which i appreciated. It was also crisp and served with a good amount of carrots. I did wish they included more lettuce. The fish sauce served with it was nice too; not too overpowering. Something in the banh xeo though was oddly sweet. It did catch me off guard. Good nonetheless.

The Mi Do Bien was good and the egg noodle was nicely cooked. Tasted like the store bought noodles you can get at the supermarket. Portion was good and there was a good amount of seafood and fixings. The broth itself was very lightly flavored; makes for a good hangover soup.

The banh canh tom cua was also nice. Noodles were not too soft and there was a ton of flavor in the broth and crab. I'm not too much a crab lover but I thought the dish was good.

The caramelized pork chops had a very distinct soy flavor, almost Chinese-carryout-esque. Super savory and paired well with rice. Tasted sort of like typical braised Chinese short ribs.

Overall, a decent spot for the area if you are looking for Viet food. If you don't like this place though, I'm sure you can find another at the Eden center where the restaurant is located. There are a ton of Viet restaurants and shops around there.

Following a review of customer feedback, we visited this establishment with high expectations for Vietnamese cuisine; however, the experience proved disappointing. Both service quality and food standards were not up to par. Furthermore, the lack of credit card payment options was unexpected.

The food was okay. They only accept cash, and the bill was handwritten on plain paper—not from any system. They also added a 10% tax, which seems questionable.

Stopped by for dinner on the way back from visiting DC! Good portion to price ratio, food was brought out quickly, and most importantly it tastes as good as it looks. 10/10, thank you for the dinner. I recommend the stir fry beef with rice noodles 🙏🏽

The food was ok and only accepts Cash which can be shady. The worst part was the típ placed on the table and the table was cleared by one person already . As we we're walking out, another person said we didn't give típ so we put new típ ơn the table then he followed us to the door and said the tip as not enough. So beware of the bad customer service there.

Tucked inside the always-buzzing Eden Center, Huong Viet has long been my go-to spot for authentic Vietnamese food, especially when I’m craving a family-style dinner that feels like home.

The menu is full of classics, and everything is cooked with soul — from the crispy spring rolls to the sizzling bánh xèo, and the always flavorful shaky beef. Their hot pot and pho are also spot-on, perfect for sharing on a cool day or when you just want comfort in a bowl.

What I love most is the consistency. No matter when I go, the food hits the mark. The space is simple and unpretentious, but that’s part of the charm — it’s about the food and the people you share it with.

Service is fast, friendly, and familiar. Just a heads-up: they’re cash only, so come prepared. And yes, it gets crowded, especially on weekends — but that’s a good sign.

If you’re looking for a place that delivers true Vietnamese flavor, no shortcuts, no fuss, just good food the way it’s meant to be — Huong Viet never disappoints.

Sweet n Sour Soup great
Fish stew great
Veggy stir fried with tofu okay
Dried noodle soup okay

A little bit pricey. The bill comes out to be $87 for four dishes which are somewhat high.

However, before we left, one of the staff running after us and asking for more tips! He demanded we had to give the tips at least 18%. My dad is nice to gave him more tips but please be prepared if you DONT WANT THE STAFF RUNING AFTER YOU TO YOUR HOUSE FOR THE TIPS!!!

After wrapping up guitar lessons, I like to treat myself to something new across the street at Eden Center. This week's adventure led me to Huong Viet - and with all the Washingtonian awards lining the wall, I had a good feeling I was in for something special.

Heads up: It's cash only. If you forget, you can pay via Zelle. In my case, that didn't go through. Thankfully, there's an ATM just a few steps away. Exit the restaurant, turn left, and walk to the end of the strip. Despite the hiccup, the staff was patient and kind while I figured things out. Service here was very good. Attentive, welcoming and never rushed.

To drink I ordered the lychee smoothie. Instead of boba, I'm pretty sure it had actual lychee balls at the bottom. It was on the sweeter side, so next time I'll ask for less sugar. Overall it hit the spot.

I kicked off with the crispy spring rolls. Not the healthiest option, but absolutely worth it. Packed with ground pork, crab, and shrimp, they were perfectly friend and bursting with flavor. A solid roll.

Next up were the fresh spring rolls with peanut sauce. These were light, refreshing, and balanced out the crispy indulgence nicely.

For my main, I went with the Shaky Beef. The manager gave me a tip: Dip each bite in a bit of scratch and make sure to scoop up the veggies with the beef. The combination was delicious. The beef cubes were thick, tender, and full of flavor. The veggies and rice rounded out the dish beautifully.

Eden Center has no shortage of great spots, but Huong Viet definitely stands out. Ill be back.. and next time, I won't forget to bring cash.

Huong Viet serves delicious food—everything was fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better. The only downside is that they accept cash only, so make sure to come prepared. Overall, a fantastic spot for authentic Vietnamese cuisine!
