5 Star Ice Cream / 0 Star Parking
CAUTION!!! Posting here so people do not have the same misfortune as us, vehicles may be towed almost immediately even for very short stops at neighboring shops nearby!!!
Today 4/12/26, around 12:55pm, we parked in shared back lot guest parking for CVS, Hunan Cafe, and Dogwood Tavern and went to Lil City Creamery right next to the lot. We were gone for ~10 minutes but when we returned, our car had already been towed with absolutely no grace period. According to witnesses at Dogwood, it sounded like Pete’s Towing was watching us.
Before people add “You shouldn’t have parked there, it clearly states….”, the lot’s responsible towing company, Pete’s Towing Company, was PREDATORY with their enforcement in a shared commercial area with multiple nearby businesses. They will watch you and see which direction you go in. Who’s to say that I wanted ice cream before picking up takeout at Hunan? Can we not do two stops in one?
Our car got towed at 1:03PM and we retrieved our car at 1:50PM at Tyco Road. A 47 min difference, including the 7 min wait for an uber and 15 min drive to the impound lot. Absolutely predatory by Pete’s Towing Company.
All that being said, BE CAUTIOUS WHERE YOU PARK AND DO NOT RISK IT!!! PETES TOWING COMPANY IS WATCHING YOU AND WILL TOW IMMEDIATELY!!!

The ice cream is excellent and the store is always staffed by very friendly college students (each with their own tip jar to help with their college funds), but the hours can be erratic off-season. Available flavors vary by the day, but you can even text the owner to find out when your favorites might be back in stock. It's a tiny shop with nowhere to sit inside, but a great find!

What a place! What an owner, and WHAT AN ICE-CREAM. Jeff, himself go to a far farm to get local milk!!! No wonder I had three cups of ice-cream and wanted even more!!! Highly recommend, and I'll be back :)

Came as a highly recommended ice cream shop from some of our friends! Ice cream is the perfect kind of creamy, and they serve classic favorites as well as uniquely named flavor combinations. We loved their Pink Peppermint Chocolate Chip and Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough.
