The food is the worst. I don't recommend anyone to go there for food period!

We had the awesome Chef Mekonnen and the Nazret team cater our ~50 person wedding. My wife and I couldn't be happier with how things turned out. They were able to provide full support from a wonderful setup through bar support and went the extra mile to help clean after they had packed up their gear. This is a lovely spot and I'd recommend not only dropping by for a meal, but trusting them with ANY event you could throw.

I recently had the absolute pleasure of dining at Nazret Ethiopian Restaurant, and I have to say this was one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in a long time. From the moment I walked in, I felt welcomed and cared for. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with a comfortable setting that immediately makes you feel like you’re in a place where people truly care about food, culture, and hospitality.

Nazret has been in decline for a few years. I think however they are turning themselves around. The big assortment platter (a picture of which is in the Tripadvisor main screen) has definitely improved. Helpings of indjera bread are generous. My complaint is, they promised us our food at 5 PM on Saturday. The parking at Plaza America is probably the worst place to park in America! I parked a block away and walked in, right at 5 (maybe 5:03). No food! It finally showed up 20 (!!!) minutes late. Nazret, PLEASE don't make promises you can't fulfill! Don't tell me "it will be here in a few minutes" either, as the owner did. Also, offer me something, a free cup of coffee perhaps, if you are going to be so rude about pick up time.

The food here is great but the service is a complete hit or miss. I’ve been here a few times now and while I enjoy eating the food here my last visit left me feeling scammed and disappointed. I was charged 2.5x the regular price for a plate of food and had a 20% tip automatically added to my total bill. I tipped an additional $20 thinking there wasn’t a tip already included. In my past visit this wasn’t included. Avoid the lady with the tattoos on her face, she tried to take my copy of the receipt while signing.

We have tried dozens of Ethiopian restaurants in DC, Maryland and Virginia. My wife is from Ethiopia, and we both agree that Nazret Restaurant has the best Ethiopian food in the DMV. We drive 40 minutes past many, many Ethiopian restaurants to get to Nazret. The atmosphere and vibe inside the restaurant makes you feel very comfortable. Chef Endalk (owner and executive Chef) personally came to our table to thank us and ask us how we were enjoying our meal. You can Google him, the Washington Post wrote a great article about him and his wonderful restaurant. They have a full bar, fresh Ethiopian and domestic beer, and soft drinks. The waitress staff are always super pleasant and accommodating. The restaurant plays great music, and it's very clean inside. They have plenty of parking, and are very family and kid friendly as well. I can't explain how much we love this restaurant, and we wanted to share this with the world. If you're looking for the best of the best, Nazret Restaurant is the spot! I was not paid or solicited for this review, this is from the heart and the stomach. 😂
