Hubby and I went for an early Valentine's Day dinner. I was skeptical choosing this location since the last few visits, the food has not been as great as Benjamin's is known for (something I've noticed a lot in the last year or so with other local restaurants -- the food quality in general has dropped). I ordered the special of the Cajun pork chops which were amazing and hubby ordered the filet which was an 8/10. We both got the brussels with bacon jam which is phenomenal! Our waitress Lindsay was awesome as well. The only negatives to note. --- this restaurant is small and quaint, it is a local gem, but it is desperately in need of some cosmetic updating. Also, we were aware that they charged a fee for using credit cards, but we paid with a debit card and were still charged the fee --- we were in a hurry, so we didn't make a fuss about it. If it happens again on our next visit, we will be sure to say something.

This was our first experience dining at Benjamin's. It was exceptional. Great atmosphere, terrific staff that were friendly and efficient, and first-rate food! We decided to order from the burger menu. I had the Southern Burger and my husband had the Bleu cheese and Bacon Burger. The burgers were hands-down the best burgers we've had since moving to Lynchburg 10 years ago! Benjamin's doesn't disappoint.

Had the surf and turf pasta, turf was overcooked and chewy and that was the soupiest pasta sauce I have ever had. The wife had the crab cakes which had several pieces of cartilage and her side of garlic sautéed mushrooms was very lacking on the garlic part. Service was ok, we were the only paying customers on an early Friday night. Also I know economy is sucking but I would rather have a small increase in prices rather than have to see that I pay extra to use my credit card without a heads up at the beginning.

Food was mediocre. I had crab cakes, baked potato and sautéed garlic mushrooms. Crab cake had a few pieces of cartilage in it, which I understand it's hard to get out but several pieces in one crab cake, chose not to eat the other. For a dish that claims garlic, I tasted none in it whatsoever!!! Also if you can't afford to cover your own credit card charges from whichever company you use then raise your prices or something, or let people know upfront that theres a difference, i didnt see that posted anywhere and our server never said anything. Speaking of servers, if you are just going to have drive by questions without even slowing down to hear the answer, maybe thats not a job for you. If you are unsteady on your feet at all don't walk on the porch, it slopes in different directions every few feet. Husband had surf and turf pasta the turf was very chewy and overdone with no options for specified doneness and it was very soupy. Turn the music down!

My wife and I had a bit of a letdown. We have been trying to here and the food did not taste fresh. We had chicken tenders and the seafood platter. There was too much breading on everything.
Great take out service. Food was really good and they definitely didn't skimp on the fresh jalepenos.

We went to purchase a gift card for a Christmas gift. The check included a fee for credit card use. We will not be back. The food was good but there are other places as good and better.
