Fred's will always have a special place in my heart as owner Fred Rabel introduced my parents way back in 1962. Catfish was hot and delicious. Collards were tasty. Always love pickled beets (which may be the number one food on the planet for goodness in our bodies). We also sampled their fried pickles...mmmm! Great service. Looking forward to the next visit.
Had our monthly family luncheon today at Fred’s. We had the hamburger steak with mashed potatoes and fries. You get a generous portion of hamburger steak that’s cooked perfectly then topped with gravy and onions. The homemade patty stayed hot the whole meal and was delicious. Homemade mashed potatoes was the perfect side to accompany the patty. Our server was amazing and came back several times during our meal, topping off our tea and asking if everything was okay. If you’re ever in Franklin,Va this place is a definite go to if you’re a foodie! This is classic southern comfort food that is done. Everyone here are literally friends and neighbors and you can feel it when you walk in the door. I love this place!
