Bubba's Shrimp Shack Fredericksburg

My wife and I decided to go to BSS for lunch and I am so happy that we did. Upon our arrival, Ernie (the owner) made us feel welcomed and appreciated. He took the time to explain everything to us with absolutely zero pressure for us to order. The food was delicious and the prices made me feel like we had stepped back in time. You cannot go to any fast food restaurant and eat a decent meal for what we paid for catfish, whiting, shrimp, hush puppies, sweet potato fries, and fountain drinks included. The list of food is not inclusive, there’s more. I am completely blown away by Earnie’s attitude, approach to business, spotless restaurant and the way he interacts with people, it’s so much like a family environment. Go see for yourself and please share this gem of a place with everyone you can!!

I forgot to mention that we also ordered 2 dinners to go and everything was ready except the fries, Earnie asked me if I wanted to wait about five minutes so they could get them ready or he can give us extra hush puppies. I chose the hush puppies. When we were leaving and getting ready to get in our vehicle, Earnie came out the restaurant with a huge container of fries for us. I was beyond impressed and grateful. Sir, thank you and your fantastic and friendly staff.

The food was fantastic! The crab cake was delicious, and it was served with the best hush puppies I've ever had. This was our first visit, and the owner took the time to describe the food. Highly recommend!

Food was amazing and definitely worth coming back for! We came in tonight as the last customers before closing, and the owner (looked like he was wearing red) was super friendly and welcoming—really made us feel appreciated.

Only reason I’m giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the rude attitude we got from the cashier, which left a bad impression. Thankfully, the owner’s kindness made up for it. Great seafood spot overall!

Right from the moment we walked in, the service was excellent. Being newbies he (the owner) explained the menu and the options for sides. The crab cakes and shrimp were excellent, my husband had fried and I had the steamed shrimp, both done perfectly! For a small upcharge we had the green beans and okra, great choices! The crabcakes were large with no fillers. The owner can over to see if we were enjoying our choices and I told him that it was better than the similar dinners we had the night before for a much higher price downtown. And we didn’t have to pay for parking. Would definitely return to try other options when in the area again.

Looking for a new seafood place, we found Bubba's online and gave it a try. Everything was delicious! The seasoning on the steamed shrimp was not overspiced and tasted yummy without cocktail or Bubba sauce. The batter on the fried shrimp was light, had a great taste, and was not greasy. The onion rings, fries, and hush puppies were also good with no lingering oil taste or feel. The manager checked in with the patrons which I liked. My husband and I agreed that this restaurant is a keeper!

I love the laid-back comfortable shrimp by the bay atmosphere 😍Wonderful staff. Fantastic owner. Only went there once and it's going to be one of my favorite places. Delicious 😋

Fantastic fish and chips spot! We don’t go out often, but when we do, we love supporting local places. This one was nearby, so we decided to give it a try. I ordered the crab cake and shrimp platter, the steamed shrimp were perfectly cooked with just the right amount of seasoning, and the crab cake was huge! I couldn’t even finish it. The house sauce on the crab cake was excellent, though it was just as delicious on its own. I also tried the fried okra, which came in a generous portion and was absolutely delicious. Next time we eat out, we’ll definitely be coming back

The fry batter is light, crispy, and flavorful. My favorite is the catfish and also the buffallo fried shrimp. Okra is great as well. Not to keen on the shrimp gumbo. Consistency has been a bit of an issue, but even so, it is always good.
