There should be novels written about Carl's. I have loved this place since I was a child. If I visit Fredericksburg, and it's in season, I am getting a large hot fudge 🍨 with maple nuts .
Carl’s has a line that stretches like it’s handing out free gold bars, so naturally you expect something transcendent. What you get is… frozen custard. Decent. Cold. Sweet. Nothing life-altering.
I had the vanilla. It was fine. Smooth, sure. Tastes like vanilla. If you handed this to someone who just woke up from a 20-year coma, they’d say “yeah, this checks out.”
The nostalgia factor is clearly doing a lot of heavy lifting here....
