Curio Wine Bar & Tasting Room

My wife and I have visited several times and have never been disappointed!! Great way to try various wines. The small plate food options are terrific, and the staff are always courteous and attentive. One of our favorite downtown shops!!

First time at the Curio and it was a great experience! Staff were very knowledgeable and helpful about the different wines. Food was excellent. There was also a great variety of wines. I will definitely go back!

Such a cool spot!! Fantastic wine selection and a great, chill atmosphere with friendly staff. I loved the selection of both local, Virginia wines and international.

If i’m being honest, I had a 1 star experience but that’s biased on account of my age so 2-3 stars as average because the place did seem nice. I’m writing this review to anybody planning on bringing someone 18-20 years of age, of course they won’t serve you wine. That’s not the issue. However, do NOT plan on the staff letting you STAY in the building!! I (18) did get kicked out less than 5 minutes upon entry due to not being 21. (Even in a group with my mother + other 21+ adults) This establishment is not similar to other wineries/breweries that allow all ages. They do not let you stay in this building unless you are 21. Even if your intention is to observe and not drink, like mine was. I may be mistaken as I didn’t have much time to look around, but there were also no obvious signs or indicators that this place was 21 and up. I wish that it was posted on the door or made more clear in general to save any headache/embarrassment!
Lastly, I do understand taking safety precautions, but what threw me off was that a member of the staff offered the outdoor seating located at the front of the building as an appropriate alternative. Respectfully, how would that be any different or safer in terms of insuring people under 21 do not have access to alcohol?? Additionally, I have read the reviews others have left about age restrictions specifically, and this establishment has previously kicked out a family with a 2 month old child for the same policy. The response to that being that “it is a self-serve wine bar”… That makes it make less sense.
I sound bitter but at the end of the day, I can go to war and die for this country but I couldn’t WATCH my mom drink wine. lol.

Nice shop had an upstairs, downstairs and back patio. Staff explained how things worked and all options.

Got a card and wife and I enjoyed different wines available and did some people watching. Will definitely be going back.

I drove past curio so many times before I had the chance to finally come in a month ago. Since then I’ve been back multiple times! It is becoming my favorite spot in town. The 1oz taste option is great for people like me who have FOMO, because you can literally try every wine and you don’t have to commit to a whole glass or bottle. And it’s fun to come back and try the same wines with different food to see if the taste changes. It’s also a great place to meet new people! I’ve come alone before with the intention of reading my book, and then ended up talking with a group of strangers! Now I’m spending my evening here reading and drinking the Serial Cab Sav. The staff is so wonderful and friendly. They make you feel welcome and always have great suggestions. Try it out you won’t be disappointed!

Good place to relax. Very friendly place. There is one certain one my wife love.I feel It’s a little too expensive for a bottle of wine. However, if you are a member, you get 15% off the wine!

Did not have food, just wine. Staff is friendly and helpful. They have a great room in the basement and a small courtyard to sit outside. Good assortment of wines from different countries.

Had a lovely time here with my boyfriend. Was greeted at the door which was nice. Wine selections were awesome for someone who loves dry wines. The charcuterie board was very tasty. My boyfriend and I will definitely be back! (:
