This place is PHENOMENAL! Went to Foode on "first Friday" Arrived without a reservation, and despite being pretty busy was seated right away. Hostess and my server (Kat) both recommended the confit duck leg (it was the feature entree) but as you can see I went a different direction (I had reviewed the menu before I got there). Kat was a great waitress, attentive, yet not over the top attentive. Started with the local sourdough boule which came warm with soft butter and olive oil (because I love bread and I knew how well it would go with the entree). Off to a great start. For my entree I had the shrimp and grits with a side of the roasted root vegetables. The shrimp and grits was really good, there's a flavor in there I could not identify but added not only flavor but a very interesting bouquet. Shrimp were relatively giant and were perfect. Roasted root vegetables were, again, perfect....a nice variety of vegetables and a surprise of candied walnut mixed in which added a whole new flavor dimension. I did take the hostesses recommendation and had the chocolate chip cookies for dessert. Here's where they go from 5 to 4 stars. Yes, the presentation was awesome (I mean, haven't we always said to ourselves if a restaurant would just serve some milk with dessert?) and the cookies were warm and giant. But...they aren't really chocolate chip cookies. They're more like a spice-oatmeal cookie with some chocolate chips added in. I was disappointed, not because they didn't taste good (they did) but because they weren't really chocolate chip cookies. Foode is housed in an old bank building, nice decor. I didn't see much of the space but what I saw was pretty cool. I will definitely be back. Pricey? Not really. Yes, my bill was $62 before tip....but I did take my leftovers with me, so 2 meals for $62? Ok.

We had an amazing brunch/lunch here. This is such a cute, historic old bank, with a vault converted to a private dining room. The fried chicken sandwiches were ginormous, on a soft roll bun with tiny pickles. We ordered the truffle fries, which were one of the best we've ever tried. I highly recommend the citrus salmon salad. It had layers and layers of interesting veggies with a nicely cooked piece of salmon on top. The staff was so friendly. They told us stories of its significance to the Civil War, with then President Lincoln giving a speech to his troops on steps of the bank. Such a treasure. Happy to have stopped here.

I have been going to Foode since they opened, and I typically LOVE IT! The past 3 visits have been disappointing, to say the least. The service was extremely slow and the food was just average at best. I am not sure what or why but I hope it goes back to the food and service we have gotten used to.

The only reason this review is 4 stars is because they got rid of their Chorizo Hash. My girlfriend and I love to stop at Foode whenever we drive through Fredericksburg. We've been 5 or 6 times in the past year. I always get the Chorizo Hash bowl, but I was so disappointed the last time we went because they no longer serve the Chorizo Hash. I reluctantly got the Chiliquilles instead. The dish was very flavorful in its own right, and it lessened my disappointment somewhat, but I implore Foode to bring back the Chorizo Hash permanently. It was one of the best dishes I've ever eaten. In lieu of bringing back the dish, I would love to have the recipe for the tahini sauce

The food is good, but the menu is limited. They change the menu for the season. The setting is an old bank. The service is usually good and the food usually comes quickly.

I went there about a year ago for breakfast it was amazing! We went there 3/16/2024 for lunch and worst food ever I was so embarrassed after bragging how great this place was being in an old bank. Service was good very nice server the side of Herb Fries were crispy and yummy but our Jerk Salmon Salad and the Warm Brussel Salad omg please Warm was not the word the Brussels were a little warmer than room temperature and all the ingredients were so dry. The grilled chicken I added was like a mouth full of Sahara Desert sand so dry I was choking. The salmon was so fishy smelling and also dry WHERE ARE THE DRESSINGS!!! Speaking of dressing the gentleman next to us asked about a side of blue cheese or ranch dressing . They DONT have either WTH who doesn't have ranch. Even a house made recipe of ranch. His dining mate complained about her salmon too so it wasn't just us. Too bad this place seems to have gone down hill. I won't recommend to anyone I want to keep as a friend!

Love coming here for brunch or a weekend quick bite to eat. The food has slipped in recent years but is still good overall. I miss the days when Foode was on Caroline St. and it had amazing food with a low key vibe.

I wanted to say good things since this is a beloved local establishment. Great interior. Abysmal chicken sandwich. It was so dry and actually blackened. There was no flavor besides dry oil and sadness. The only good thing was that it was fully cooked. They put a tiny amount of mayo, and when I asked if they had ranch or anything else, they could only provide ketchup. The fries allegedly have 3 preparation methods -truffle and herb being 2 of the three options. I chose herb and received plain fries, again with no sauce at all on the plate.

My partner and I had the best experience here - I think this restaurant is one you should definitely check out! Ambiance: super cute, stylish, and clean. Another location where you can hang/eat inside a bank vault :) Service: wonderful - they were helpful for me in finding delicious gluten free options (which is actually a lot of the menu!) Food/drink: delicious!! Flavorful, fresh, and fun to look at. Loved it!

Definitely a must try in Downtown Fredericksburg! This place is super cool on the inside as an old bank and even has the chance of dining inside the old vault! Saturday morning service was quick and food was tasty! Get here early because at 8:30AM the restaurant was packed. For drinks we got the OJ mimosa and the Apple juice mimosa. The Apple one was a 10/10. The OJ mimosa had the nice touch of sugar on the rim. Entrees included the 2 eggs your way and the chicken and waffles. The only thing I'd change is to use less salt, especially on the eggs and potatoes. The chicken on the chicken and waffles was full of flavor, and super crunchy! Best brunch place in Fredericksburg! They should change the water in the dishwasher as both the cups and silverware smelled like wet dog.

FOODE is a place I've gone since its first location downtown. It isn't one of our 'go-to' spots but the service this last time was so good, I have to leave this review! Our server was knowledgeable, friendly and attentive, and the food was delicious. We had salmon and swordfish and enjoyed both. I like that there was live music and it wasn't really loud. The size of the seating area is comfortable and welcoming.

Very good food when we went we had the steak and some other food. It was very good and service was good. The food was a good portion size as well. Only down side we had a family member that's allergic to peanuts and it was in something she ate. Maybe more information about ingredients but otherwise good food.
