Wonderful drinks at bar followed by dinner. It had been a few years since visiting and we are so happy we did. The stuffed shrimp and crap stuffed flounder were the best meal we've had in a very long time. We will definitely be back.

Went with friends for dinner and ordered the steak, short ribs, and wrapped salmon. The brie appetizer was great, as was the short ribs. Salmon was good, not amazing. French onion soup and creme brûlée awesome.
The reason for two stars is that the steak came out as a medium well/more well done when a medium was ordered. We pointed this out to our waiter and said this doesn’t look medium- looks more well done, he took the plate back, then came back to our table with the steak fully cut open and asked does not that not look medium to you? We were all pretty put off given we clearly said it didn’t look medium and that was the very reason it was even brought to his attention in the first place, then he returned to the table with the same steak. It felt like very confrontational, and we felt uncomfortable and just said it’s fine we will take it. The waiter did question if we were sure, but at that point we all were pretty uncomfortable that he even came back to challenge the ask when clearly it would not have been brought up if it wasn’t medium, so we just let it go. She didn’t eat any of the steak, and the waiter when he picked up the plate didn’t ask why it wasn’t touched and we paid for a full steak that wasn’t eaten. Would not return due to this.

La Petite Auberge is one of the loveliest dining experiences in downtown Fredericksburg. The food and service are fabulous each time I visit.
This is my favorite restaurant downtown! Such a beautiful space and great service and food. My favorite is the eggplant frites. Looking forward to going back!

It's difficult to find authentic French food in the area and this spot makes up for it. Worth the price

We had such a great first experience at La Petite Auberge for our wedding anniversary. Our waitress was amazing and all of the staff was so kind. From appetizers to dessert - we loved it all! We’re planning on going back for a Valentine’s Day dinner😄

My lovely wife and I picked La Petite Auberge to enjoy what we would characterize as a fancy lunch. The staff was phenomenal! We originally chose to sit in the dining room, but we changed our minds shortly thereafter. Our waiter and the other staff were very accommodating and seated us in the lounge.
We are so glad that we picked this restaurant! The food was great as well. We shared an escargot appetizer and then enjoyed some soup. (Wow, I sound old.) I opted for the butternut squash soup, and Kim ordered the French onion soup. They were both outstanding. The butternut squash soup had a web/spiral of cream and a dollop of a nice mango chutney in the middle of it. Do I even have to mention the French onion soup? It's a French restaurant, of course, the French onion soup was on point.
For our main dishes, I chose beef medallions in a lovely sauce that also had sauteed baby bella mushrooms. The steak was cooked perfectly, and the sauce was lovely. Kim decided on the quiche Lorraine, and it was even better than she expected.
Kudos, and many thanks to the folks at La Petite Auberge!

I want to thank La Petite for being such an amazing restaurant. Having our wedding there was incredible and we will forever hold La Petite in our heart. The staff there is so kind, hard working and put their best foot forward. We thank each staff member for going above and beyond to host our wedding. We truly hope you know how much we appreciate you. Thank you to the executive chef for making every dish so incredible. For making us feel so welcome. Love,
Kristin Huddleston ❤️

Food was ok. Service and atmosphere were terrible. I have lived in the Fredericksburg area for many years and this was my first visit to La Petite. I have heard many good things so I was excited to try it for a Christmas dinner with friends. The restaurant was not ready to seat us at 5:30, even though that was the time of our reservations. We stood in the hall for about 15 minutes, with the restaurant empty. We then ordered drinks, which took close to 30 minutes to get to the table. Except they forgot two people, which we had to go to the bar and order. The waiter never asked if we would like additional drinks . Food was fine, but expect about an hour wait. We did not order dessert because at this point it was past 8:30, and we just really wanted to get out of the restaurant. Maybe it was an off night, but I will not be returning. Way better restaurants in Fredericksburg!
