We were roadtripping on 95 and needed a place to stop for snacks so we selected Foode and Mercantile. What a very pleasant surprise. After winding through a tree lined road boarding the river, we found the restaurant in quaint downtown Fredericksburg, VA. We each ordered bourbon based drinks, coffee, tea and Smoked Salmon, Quiche and a gingerbread scone! It was delicious! They quickly fixed what was a smaller than normal portion of salmon and kept coffee and water glasses full...
Our waitress Sydney, she was fabulous. She recommends the shrimp and grits...soooo good! We ate in the vault! The place is amazing, I had the Rosie's fried chicken sandwich, and a side of grits..yummy
We were vectored off I-95 due to an accident and landed in Fredericksburg. Read the reviews and SO GLAD we came here!! Josie was delightful. My red eye coffee and waffles and chicken were outstanding! Charming town. Mercantile is in an historic bank building.
