The Alpine Chef Reviews
Just had lunch with friends Kathleen and Terry Powers. I have to admit, I tried spargel for the first time in my life. (It is white asparagus. I didn't know it, either...) It was delicious!! It was cooked so it still had some crunch to it!! (I hate any kind of mooshy vegetables.) I had an alpine schnitzel hoagie, which was divine, and potato pancakes (also amazing!!) They give you such large portions I will have enough for dinner tonight, too!! They do such a good job...read full review

The Alpine Chef, nestled in downtown Fredericksburg, offers authentic German cuisine in a charming Bavarian setting. The restaurant serves a range of dishes, including potato pancakes, Wiener schnitzel, jager schnitzel, sauerkraut, green beans, and fried potatoes, all cooked to perfection with spot-on seasoning. Customers praise the exceptional food, describing it as "delicious" with "wonderful" dishes like cream of mushroom soup, German meatballs, and excellent seasonal offerings like white asparagus. The service is generally attentive, and diners have had the chance to meet the chef directly. With very good prices and a variety of German beers on tap, The Alpine Chef provides a consistently enjoyable dining experience.
The restaurant has received positive reviews from recent visitors. One customer described the German beer, meats, side items, and desserts as "all amazing" and said they "won't forget" their visit for a 75th birthday celebration. Another customer noted that while the food was "over cooked" and the service "bad" on a previous visit, a return trip in October resulted in "excellent" food and "good" service, leading them to say they "will be back." A third customer, who visited for Oktoberfest, was "blown away" by the "great atmosphere" and everything they tried, including the German meatballs, pretzels, fries, whipped potatoes, bread dumpling, and potato pancakes, and they plan to return.
