I recently went with my girlfriend to get lunch and the service was terrible. I am not 100% sure, but i believe this young lady’s name was Nicole, she was extremely unprofessional and rude. laughing in my face as im picking up an order, staring at me like im stupid. While i was ordering, she was giving me attitude with every word she said. seriously, find another job, be a trash person for Gods sake. She forgot to give me my cup for my drink and when i asked the worker next to her if i could have my cup, he smiled and they looked at each other CLEARLY making fun of me asking a simple question. Sorry to call you out girl, but another thing she was doing was being uncomfortably touchy with the boy who was also working. Like, get a room. And on top of all this, i turned to fill my drink up and she was scrolling on her phone like she was at home in bed. BE PROFESSIONAL YOUR CUSTOMERS ARE WATCHING YOU. I work at a food service place so i know it is not hard to simply be a professional staff member. will not be returning.

Took over :20 minutes to get all leg meals. One of the managers came out saying they only had 7. We ordered 8. It would take another 12-14 minutes. We said that that the meals are for the kids. Then as she walked away she mentioned in Spanish that we will be waiting to the staff. Unbelievable! Poorly run location. We are local residents and thought when they opened a couple of months, things would improve. Nope! We will go to the Manassas or Chantilly locations for our Popeyes fix.

I have been here three times since opening and they still cannot get a simple chicken tenders order right. I order a 5 piece and get 3, I ask for sauce at the window and get extra napkins. The menu is simple and I am the only person in the drive thru. As someone who has previously worked in the fast food industry I know it is not that hard, just seems like this store is either trying to cut costs or just doesn’t care.

bad slow service. The quality of food was not even good. It took about an hour to fulfil my order and it was only for total 6 chicken pieces. Staffing is clearly an issue. Only teenagers working. Very disrespectful to customers. Evening shift is a joke.

I wanted Mac n cheese as one of my sides and was charged more. I was given a small container with less than a serving. You charge almost $4 and giving ppl empty cups. Not to mention you can’t even call bc there’s no number and they didn’t give a receipt! Biscuits cold. This is terrible.

I decided to finally try this new location. It was clean and neat, but apart from that I was disappointed. At the counter, I tried to keep up with the computer driven menu, which changes so fast that it's difficult to figure anything out (IMO). So I try to get the attention of the girl who is standing at a computer terminal, but she's distracted in conversation with a girl leaning on the next terminal over, who finally nods in my direction to let the first girl know that I'm standing there (thanks). I ask her what comes with the combo, and she responds, "how many pieces?" I ask more specifically if it comes with a drink, and she exasperatedly says, "yes, how many pieces?" I say, "two, can I get that all dark?" She responds, "spicy or mild?" For some reason, I assumed that her moving on to the next question meant that she understood that I wanted all dark, and said "spicy." My tray arrived at the counter in fairly short order, but it was a breast and a wing. I said, "I asked for all dark." She responded, "you asked for spicy." I decided in the moment to not quibble over the fact that spicy or mild has nothing to do with the pieces selected, and just retreated to a table. In retrospect, I'm surprised the order was even that "accurate," because the conversation with the next cashier over continued through the whole interaction. So, on to the food... The first thing I realized when I picked up a piece is that it was extremely dried out. The breading literally crushed apart in my fingers and fell off in chunks. The chicken was also overly dry too. FWIW, I visited in the early afternoon, it wasn't busy, but there was a MOUNTAIN of chicken at the ready, as if they cook the whole day's worth at one time. I'm speculating a bit on this count, but why bother preparing fresh chicken through the day when you can do it all at once and be done with it, right? The second thing I noticed was that in spite of ordering spicy, as she even reminded me, it was not spicy. I had ordered red beans and rice for the side dish, and it was also disappointing. It tasted fine, but there was so little in the container that I couldn't get a spoonful. I literally had to scrape it off the bottom. I had asked for hot sauce to mix into the beans and rice, and in typical "Popeyes" fashion, she brought a handful, but the sad irony is that the total quantity of hot sauce probably exceeded the volume of beans and rice it was meant to enhance. I'll make a couple more broader comments: The first is that I like Popeyes in general. The Manassas location is always hopping, so it's not always the cleanest, but they hustle to serve and the food is always good. I occasionally visit the Bealton location, and it's always good too. The second thing is that this location seems to suffer from a wider phenomenon I see more and more frequently, where children are a restaurant's primary interface with the public, and they haven't grown up enough to deal with adults. I had a job when I was a kid, and you learned right away that you had to act mature, be professional and put the customers needs above your own self-interests. At that moment in time, the customer's order is more important than the last thing your friend watched on TikTok. Don't let your demeanor imply that the customer is a nuisance, or treat them like they're stupid. Frankly, this is management's fault, because they should ensure that their staff use good manners and common courtesy. Of course, that presumes that management understands those things themselves.

This restaurant opened several months ago and I have been there many times since. They started off well enough, being as good as any Popeye's I have been to, but consistently the experience has been declining. Firstly, the air quality has been really bad for weeks. Did something already happen to the ventilation system? Sitting farthest from the kitchen I cough and leave with a strong odor of fried chicken about me. The ventilation seemed better initially. I even mentioned it to the staff recently and they joked that they are used to it. I think it must be unhealthy in the long-term, and unpleasant for a single visit. The time to simply place an order is getting really long. Tonight, there was only one customer ahead of me when I arrived and it took at least 15 minutes before anyone was taking my order. There clearly appears to be a staffing issue. When the cashier finally finished taking the order for the customer ahead of me they then went all around the kitchen area trying to fulfill it. Once that was completely done, I was able to place my order. It was an absurd amount of time and it was enough for me to declare I will wait a while before returning so that they can have an opportunity to rework things. Within sight of this location is a Chic-Fil-A and the contrast couldn't be more stark between the two. One has consistently excellent service, a full lobby and drive-thru, and a methodical process that gets you your food very quickly with great customer respect that is sorely lacking in businesses anymore. The other already seems like a ghost town, lacking staff and customers and just trying to get by on their familiar branding. The food quality seems to remain good here but I worry that will soon take the same path as the service. I have only dined in so perhaps the drive-thru experience is better. I did observe the only drive-thru worker hustling and filling several orders while my cashier seemed a bit lost. There was only one cashier for the lobby customers. I only saw one person of authority in the back scrambling to fill side items and another going in and out with an unclear role. My visit prior to this one had me witness a manager or supervisor standing in the lobby chatting on a mobile phone, oblivious to anything business-related going on the entire time I was there. They certainly didn't have any awareness of what workers were doing nor did they provide any support. Perhaps it was a work-related call but given how slow things were I think standing on the sideline just didn't look good. The lobby does appear to be kept clean but I also haven't seen more than one or two other tables in use on any visit for the past couple of months. Finally, what's the deal with napkins? Why are they rationed from behind the counter? The main food is fried chicken eaten by hand, but they only place a few napkins on the tray per order. If they have wet wipes you apparently must request those. I ended up going back to request more napkins just about every visit so far. Just put them out where we can get them, please! If the profit margin hinges on how many napkins each customer uses then fix the problems mentioned above and trust us to decide how many we need to clean up. No other chain restaurant in the area is so cheap about their napkins. I look forward to returning sometime in the future to a better Popeye's in Haymarket.
