We decided to try something new and all I can say is WOW! Tommy, our waiter and owner, is fantastic and ready to offer suggestions when needed. We shared an appetizer of Burek (cheese and spinach). It was light and airy and delicious. I had theGoulash and hubs had the Paprikash. Both were sooooo good!!! The fresh bread alone is worth the trip! We couldn't decide which Crepe, so at Tommy's suggestion we got 1/2 rose hip, 1/2 chocolate. If you have the opportunity to eat here, do yourself the favor and enjoy! Great food, great wine selection, great service, great conversation! We can't say enough good things.

Went there with a group of 7, and what an amazing experience the table got a bottle of wine along with a meat and cheese board. Then we moved on to the main corse. I had the stake kabobs and the Balkan potatoes, and they were out of this world! The staff was so friendly and really caring over all a must stop if you are in the Richmond area.

Great spot for Balkan food. Boryana was very nice and helpful. We orderd several dishes and everything was fresh and delicious. We had burek, goulash, meat platter, salad desserts. It was so good that we ordered more food to take home. Definitelly coming back, even though it takes 2 hours drive from Virginia Beach :)

Very cozy space with a welcoming atmosphere and friendly staff. Their food is delicious. Look forward to coming back soon. I had the goulash and the flavor with was very good. Neither too strong or too weak just the way it should be to tickle your taste buds and make you want to clean your plate. Even the bread was fresh and moist with its own flavor great for soaking up those last bits of goulash.Took a bite before I got the picture so don’t judge the presentation pictured here.

The food was to die for. I got the paprikash and will definitely be returning. The staff was very efficient and nice. The restaurant is clean and simple, nothing crazy, but still nice.

This restaurant truly exceeded my expectations! The traditional Eastern European dishes tasted just like homemade meals from my Nana's kitchen. It's rare to find Balkan cuisine that seamlessly blends with American tastes, but this place nails it. A genuine taste of Europe, I'll definitely be returning!

The food here is excellent. You must try the Balkan potatoes. Since it was my first time at the restaurant, the owner/manager gave my wife and I a small dish of the potatoes. Oh my goodness was it good. We're definitely returning to the restaurant when we're in Richmond. Excellent. Frankly, it's the best food I've had in Richmond. I'm in the area often, and I am often disappointed. Balkan Restaurant is worth the trip.

Food was a disappointment. Falafel was delicious, crispy and well seasoned but the tzatziki was basically just mayonnaise, no cucumber or seasoning. The dressing on the shredded lettuce and tomatoes under the falafel was lively and bright. We got two sandwiches, a gyro and the Doner, both had tzatziki so took away from the dishes. Meats were fairly bland/unseasoned, the Doner less so but it just seemed so oily and wet. The bread was tasty and the fries were near perfection.Atmosphere was nice.

We didn't have a reservation but thankfully they had a table available! The service was amazing and they made sure to check on us. The food is to die for! We had the burek to start, my boyfriend had the paprikash, and I got the shish kabob platter with grilled chicken and potatoes. All of the above was amazing! Everything tastes fresh and well seasoned! We will be coming back and will have reservations next time!

Everything was good from the food to the service. Me and my wife shared a cheesy bread type of dish and a goulash dish type of a beef stew. You can say it off with a delicious dessert. I forget the name but it was like chocolate layer cake, the owner I’m assuming was very nice and welcoming.
