Love the food. We have been looking for good Chinese food and we have found one. My kids love the smoke duck.

Incredibly tasty food here! Ask about the seasonal specials! Linda is fantastic and helped us get a very large party in on short notice.

Very good food, and very easy to sit down quickly. Their braised/stewed pork belly is delicious, I have gotten it every time I've gone so far.

My family is from Canton area. This place is very good and is chinese themed, meant to share the dishes with others. We got the scallion pancakes, mapo tofu, chongqing spicy chicken, spicy crispy tofu, and boiled fish with vegetables. Very good authentic Chinese food!

Got a menu from next door Asian grocery store. Decided to order 4 items from the menu. Go inside and order from the lady up front, showed her exactly what we want on the menu. So I pay the almost $70 dollar bill. Seemed high to me, so I go out and show my wife the paid bill and we discover the total should be at least $10 less than what was paid. I go back and ask the lady if the price is right and she says oh yes and oh by the way this menu you ordered from is 10 years old. Ah ha now you tell me! Ok we let that go. Finally 20 minutes later she comes out with the food we ordered, and I left as we need to get home near Charlottesville. So on our way we begin to open our order and eat on the way. Never seen such a mess. The small roast pork buns (3) were probably bought next door from the grocery store, the the beef tendon w/chili sauce was way too sweet, the pig ear in chili sauce was SUBSTITUTED for wontons in chili oil, and the worst thing of all (pictured below) was the sautéed chitterlings w/ bell peppers and leek! Look at it carefully, this has no bell peppers and no leeks and yes those are FRENCH FRIES! Super extra spicy and all this for what was 10 years ago $18.95 and now a whopping 28.95! We had to throw most of this $70 order in the TRASH. Hey go if you dare, but I would NOT ADVISE IT!

Excellent I’m a known chef visiting VCU in Richmond, Virginia and saw there were great Chinese places. Since 1981 I’ve loved however not found many legit shredded pork in garlic sauce dishes. They nailed it, this classic Sichuan dish . When she placed on the table I had flash backs to Houston Texas the last time I actually ordered the dish as every place did it no justice. If you’ve never tried its spicy, salty, little acidic. Steamed rice has to be and was perfect. I started with a great hot and sour soup and then the green onion pancake. The pancake golden brown, crispy, cooked perfect. The soup a great blend had me sweating. Only negative is I’m from Georgia.

I hosted a small group dinner at Cheng Du and it was great! The seating was perfect for the party, the food was tasty, and everyone was able to order to their preference. My partner and I are vegan and there are a number of items on the menu for our needs, which is always nice. The dry fried tofu was awesome and highly recommended. Other friends enjoyed pork, chicken, and lamb and said it was delicious. We all shared smashed cucumber salad and it was a big hit with the table (and we ended up ordering more). I will absolutely host another dinner here.

My first clue should have been that it was lunch time and the restaurant was empty. Not one person except for one waitress. The food was so disappointing, the General Tao's Chicken tasted like it was fried in old oil. Flies flying around our table. The vegetables were soggy and seemed like they were frozen. There were black specks in the white rice. This was a horrible experience! Don't waste your time or money!

I traveled here for two consecutive years because my friend invited us to order it in the restaurant . It felt good, so I continued to order takeaway. As a result, the takeaway felt that ,it was different products with different flavors. It doesn‘t taste good when I try to eat,I want to vomit.

Very slack on Protein at this restaurant, mostly all noodles, Rice with very little vegetables & extremely slack on meat portions, that's too bad because they're only a few minutes from my house, three entrees over $50, I'd definitely skip this place & go to Chens on Nuckols road, complete rip off accompanied by rude service, save your money & Don't be a fool like me & waste over $50 for subpar Chinese Food.

The Henrico Health Dept. inspected this restaurant. How awful! Flies and mice droppings!

Cheng du is the BEST chinese in Henrico. The staff are fantastic and the food always knocks my socks off. The pork dumplings in chilli oil are to die for, the fried rice is superb, all the dry pot dishes are lip-smackingly delicious. Highly HIGHLY recommend.
