Rare Olde Times is a GEM in western Henrico. Unassuming delicious food mimics the British food we had in London years ago with a few American items peppered in. My husband and I had been coming here quite regularly in the summer and fall, but a family wedding and the holidays happened and we hadn't been here in awhile. We came in tonight to a full house and a full bar. We were told that there was no room as it was packed and there was live music so reservations were needed....
The staff and vibes are fantastic, but the food is some of the worst I've ever had in my life. I ordered the beef tips and for $18 I got instant mashed potatoes, premade god awful gravy, and beef tips that I couldn't even taste over the gravy. The mac and cheese was somewhat passable, but the beef tips were equivalent to what I'd expect to find in jail.
