“I am from out of town and I ordered two quesabiria , one carnitas and one cow lip tacos. Oh my goodness!!! Some of the best tacos I ever had!!! Especially the last two tacos ??? so fresh, hot and tasty!!! And their salsas are amazing!! If you can really handle the heat, get their spicy salsa, it’s very very spicy and just perfect!!! Their service is also very very good! I inhaled the food so fats that I didn’t get to take any pictures ? Highly recommend!!“

“First time at Sloop John B Island Style Taco Bar and YOU need to go! It is a beautiful and upscale contemporary ambiance that reminded me of a spot I would find on the beach. Everything from the drinks to the food was die for. It was a refreshing take on fresh salsa and Caribbean flavors- the appetizers and tacos were to die for. The service and personal attention was a wonderful experience and we will certainly be back- VERY soon!“

“I don't know why they are adamant on not being a Mexican restaurant but that's what it is. Their very small menu had Mexican dishes. That being said, the food was super delicious. Probably the best birria we've had in the Richmond area and Hampton roads. We had the margarita flight and it was very yummy and well balanced. My favorite one was the passion fruit. The carne asada nachos were very good and a huge portion. The bathrooms were clean and had awesome decor AND they even had feminine products which is a huge plus. If I had to give any critique it would be that the taco-dillas had like no cheese but didn't matter since the birria had so much flavor. I also thought the tortillas were on the thicker side. And the last thing is that they didn't have a changing table in the bathroom for my baby. The place is small but over all the staff was very friendly and we will be coming back (:“

“I live in Sandston so I gave it a whirl. 10 out of 10!! I had the Lychee margarita and my husband had the Mexican mule. Both were great!! Birria empanadas and Birria tacos were amazing. Taste brought me back to my recent visit to Texas!“

“OMG show out to this place ! I am in town visiting my brothers in law and we got here late at Friday around 11pm and we ordered food from Mayas restaurant at DoorDash. The food was still warm when we ate it. The flavor was amazing !! I loved the pancho villa burrito it was fantastic. My husband got the birria quesadilla and my brother in law got the steak torta. Everything was delicious and I highly recommend this place.“

“I ordered from DoorDash. I got a Chorizo Breakfast Burrito. It was not bad. I was just really missing some red hot sauce. It's very filling and easily two meals. I didn't expect whole beans, but didn't mind it.The grilled scallions were huge! It was just missing some lime.Nothing major stood out.“

“Today was my first time enjoying their tacos after walking my dog on the canal. I asked homegirl to give me her two favorites, and to jazz them up like she liked them. She went with the Mexican and the J*** with sautéed peppers and onions, and OMmmmmmmmG! Life changing experience! Hands down the best tacos I’ve eaten this side of the Mississippi River.“
