There are some days when you crave a fresh bowl of soup. There are some weeks when you want multiple kinds of soup for meals, rather than prep a large batch yourself. In either case, 100 Bowls of Soup is the best option I have found in the DMV. Incredibly fresh, surprisingly filling, and always delicious. My favorites so far are the Peruvian Chicken and the Beef Borscht, and I cannot wait to try the Beautiful Beet and Moroccan Stew.
In an era of meal kits and delivery services, I am incredibly glad to have found a place like 100 Bowls of Soup. The soups are also freezer-friendly and great for group gatherings when everyone wants their own option, too. Cannot recommend highly enough!

My step-mom has terminal cancer and is having trouble eating. One thing she can eat is soup. My dad heard of 100 bowls of soup, so made the drive from Haymarket. He spent about $70 on 7 different soups: carrot/ginger, chicken soup, minestrone , Italian vegetable and others. When he got home, he first tried the carrot/ginger soup and neither of them could eat it. He figured you can’t go wrong with chicken soup , so he heated that up. They described it as dirty dishwater with spices. Not sure if it was a bad day/batch but very disappointed.

Obsessed with soup and so happy to have found this place. My first visit I was greeted by the owner - she was very kind. The soups were delicious and the options are endless. They also host cooking classes which I hope to attend soon.

This is absolutely amazing fresh soup. I love the healthy weekly variety and ability to store it in my freezer. I frequently pair it with a half sandwich. I've never seen such a great variety of soups in the store. My friends have become followers too! The cooking classes they offer are a lot of fun. I enjoy learning new techniques.

This place is amazing. Although the shop makes some meat-based soups, over 20 different, seasonal vegan soups are available. A few of the soups are available at Northern VA-area My Organic Market stores (MOM's). All the soups sold are gluten-free, dairy-free. Soups can be frozen for a few weeks if not consumed before expiry date. Ingredients are sourced from local and organic farms wherever possible. Examples of vegan soups currently available: Thai Sweet Potato (delicious on a cold day), Curry Pumpkin, Masala Split Pea, Cuban Black Bean, Caraway Cauliflower, Split Pea, Italian Vegetable, Moroccan Stew and Minestrone. Staff are very friendly and welcoming. Prices are reasonable. Updated from previous review on 2024-11-13
Soups ? Heaven ?
This is where you get your mom's best handcrafted soups. A wide variety of tastes from all seasons. From a ready to consume soup to brothes that are used as a base for your own home cooking.
The store & the owner offer from time to time 2 hrs. cooking classes which are too fun & informative to miss.
You need to take into consideration that there is no "dine-in" & that all soups have almost no salt nor pepper. That is done in purpose due to the fact that some people, especially elders, can't take high sodium & the level of spices may indeed vary from one to another.
Therefore, adding ? & ? would be according to your personal preference once you reach home.
It is unfortunate that I just found out about this place after living almost next door for 2 years. Now, I'm about to move to Centreville, and it would be really a long drive to visit this place again & again.

I stopped by & grabbed a few soups I thought would be good for my lunches at work. I happened to be in Reston for an appointment, but I'm feeling a monthly trip from North Bethesda, MD is worth it!! The soups are sooo good. Love ❤️ love!! I'll be back soon!!

Dietary restrictions: Low FOD options
100 Bowls is fabulous. We have tried a lot of different 100 Bowls soups. Each stands alone in terms of flavor and texture, but what they all share—low salt ( you can always add it), fresh tasting ingredients which are flavorful and not buried in too much seasoning, and lots of those ingredients sets them apart. Our favorites vary with the season—cold weather meal—Brunswick Stew, Bison Chili, Butternut Squash. Warm weather—Ratatouille, Gazpacho, Green Goddess. And if you are under the weather, a family recipe of Garlic, Ginger Chicken truly feels healing.100 Bowls is a treasure. We are so lucky to have it here in Reston/Herndon.
Vegetarian options: There are a ton of them!
Parking: Easy parking right in front
Dietary restrictions: The have FODmap, Paleo, Vegetarian, all are low fat and very light salt.
