Had a main dish for lunch the other day, and two small plates for dinner later in the week. Absolutely fantastic food. Tasty, unique, with an abundance of interesting Menu options to explore. And the proportions are very sizable. Highly recommended!
I ordered the lamb chops, and the food looks good. However, compared to other restaurants, I found this restaurant to be quite expensive. The price is higher than what I usually pay for the same type of food elsewhere
Kabobi By The Helmand is one of the best Afghan restaurants I’ve visited in Northern Virginia. The food was fresh, authentic, and full of flavor. Every dish was prepared with care, and the quality really stood out. The kabobs were perfectly cooked, the Kabuli rice was delicious, and everything tasted homemade.
I highly recommend Kabobi By The Helmand to anyone looking for authentic Afghan cuisine and excellent service. I’ll definitely be coming back!

Kabobi By The Helmand is an authentic Afghan restaurant. For those new to Afghan cuisine or familiar with Americanized versions, this is a treat. The kofta, spiced meat, and kadoo, roasted pumpkin, are exceptional. Great Afghan cuisine with delicious food. The Kabul pelow and the chicken kebab were delicious and well marinated. The Veggie Bowl has four different veggies with rice. The chicken kabob with Kabuli rice was absolutely delicious, with perfectly marinated chicken and rice mixed with vermicelli. The banja borani was so good, especially with fresh Afghan bread. The beef tenderloin was delicious. Takeout was absolutely delicious. The food is very reasonable. However, the portions can be small. The chicken and beef tenderloin combo costs $35 with 2 pieces of beef and 4 chicken pieces, and the chicken was bland. The service is great. Highly recommended for the DC area.
