We really enjoy the Chesapeake Restaurant when we come down to stay at Tides Inn! A wonderful getaway from Alexandria VA! My wife got the fettuccini and I ordered the catch of the day, Rockfish. Delicious items and the service is awesome from CC and Meghan! Wonderful staff always at the Tides Inn! If you haven't been I highly recommend it!

We could not have had a more delightful and delicious dinner. The chefs nailed the venison Osso Buco and the seared duck. Both were prepared and plated, with fabulously tasty accompaniments, beautifully. Very generous portions, making the dinners a good value. The wine list is very good, with affordable gems sprinkled throughout. Kudos to the chefs!

Although the Tides Inn advertises as a 5 star resort, the Chesapeake Restaurant has a ways to go to be comparable to a high end restaurant. The attention to detail is lacking. The beef tartar comes with nothing to accompany the dish - no crostini, cracker, toasted bread. I order the Seared Duck Breast and the waiter asked how I'd like it prepared. I responded whatever the chef recommends. The waiter said the chef recommended medium rare. The duck came out so over cooked that I had to ask for a steak knife to cut it and I still had a hard time cutting. When I mentioned to the waiter that the dish was not very good, he did nothing to try to make it right which was very disappointing. The service was also slow. The Crispy Fried Shrimp is the Tides version of Shrimp and Grits, which isn't typically served with fried shrimp. This could be a fun, fresh take on it if breadcrumbs were crunchy with a light coating but all I could taste was breading. The shrimp were overcooked as well. I have never written a restaurant review on open table and I was so disappointed by the food and service that I took the time to write a review. My recommendation is that if you're going to pay the prices that the Chesapeake Restaurant charges for their quality of food, you should go to Adrift in White Stone, VA or down the road to the Vine.

We definitely enjoyed ourselves... This is an annual tradition for us to have dinner following the wine festival, and we always look forward to our quiet dinner. The view of the water is beautiful and peaceful. The service is very pleasant. The staff is always super attentive, and the food is prepared fresh. We love every detail of the experience.

Our server was overwhelmed, shorthanded. She had at least eight tables. A table of six were extremely loud, which ruined the ambience for most of the other tables in the room. Food was good, but with all of the hype of the Tides Inn, we expected much more. We were told that the Chesapeake restaurant would be closed for renovation until next spring. That may be what's needed. It is certainly beautiful scenery, and sunsets. But I don't want to pay for just location.

Lovely service, great food! We stayed at Tides Inn for our anniversary weekend and restaurant is part of the Inn. Definitely make reservations in advance! Excellent fried oysters appetizer, nice plump oysters in light batter. We got complimentary champagne for our anniversary and also their bread rolls and butter were warm, crusty and a bit sweet Tried seared scallops with creamed corn - scallops were delicious! Also had filet that was cooked to perfection!Everybody was so nice and eager to please! If you're there celebrating at the end of dinner your waiter gives you a locker key and on your way out you open corresponding locker that are located next to the bar and you'll find small box of tasty chocolates or macarons! That was nice surprise! Wonderful sunset and water views if you get seated at the table by window

Extremely over priced establishment. I have dined at many fine dinning venues and this establishments doe not come close to average. Ordered Duck that was present with 2 slivers and it was called main entree. Wife ordered crab that drenched in a tomato ketchup base. $$$$$ spent for tiny little portions that lacked any flavor.

This was truly a memorable dining experience. The food was excellent with the desert out of this world. Our waitress was top notch; support staff was superb; and the restaurant itself was scenic and beautiful. Five stars plus!

The Tides Inn never disappoints. We had an excellent brunch and we were served by Faye! She's a charm. Everything is done exactly like a fine restaurant is expected. We never had an empty glass, but weren't hovered over. Our food came out all at the same time. Keep it up guys! My favorite place to be

This is the first time we've ever been disappointed at the Chesapeake Restaurant. They have removed an absolute favorite, fried oysters, from their menu. So we opted for soft shell crab and filet mignon. The soft shell was cooked perfectly crispy but was served on top of cheesy grits causing it to lose its crispness. The filet mignon was very salty and served with a tasteless puree.

Absolute 5 star service. Food was 98% worth the price tag, but a potato croquette came out cold in the middle. A rare miss for this place I would imagine.
