The colonnade is perfection. The food top of the line in taste, presentation and portions. The service with Heather is amazing. She describes each dish and remembers everyone’s name truly exceptional. The entire evening is a special experience. Great way to celebrate the season.

What an experience! We went for an anniversary celebration on a Sunday evening and chose The Colonnade at Hope and Glory for our special dinner. Knowing ahead of time that it was a prix fixe menu my husband worked with Heather to discuss some food intolerances limitations I had and prepared some alternatives to the menu. I could not have been more thrilled with what Chef Crockett chose. They are incredibly conscientious of peoples particular requirements and are more than happy to accommodate specific needs. Fresh made rolls with butter and rosemary from their garden, baked oysters with pesto and asaggio cheese melted on top, and vichyssoise soup with fresh chives, also from their garden to start. Our entrees included lump meat crab cakes with only a delicious aioli to hold it together, no fillers. For me, salmon with a delicious lemon and mustard sauce, both entrees accompanied by ratatouille and also glazed carrots for my husband. And to complete the meal, for desert a chocolate mousse with fresh whipped cream for me and a fabulous raisin filled bread pudding with sauce drizzled on top for my husband. Each course was paired with excellent wines and a bit of tawny port at the end to sip with desert. We have lived and traveled outside the US numerous times and we are hard pressed to think of another dining experience that compares to the ambience, the service, the quality and presentation of the food and the total experience that we enjoyed at The Colonnade. Once dinner was complete Chef Crockett came out to introduce herself. She could not have been more delightful, sharing that she began her cooking journey in Vienna, Austria where we discovered we lived very near where she had also lived, just a few years prior to us. From there it was on to formal French training and eventually on to Irvington where we were very lucky to meet her. If you ever looking for an opportunity to celebrate a special occasion, want a wonderful, intimate restaurant to enjoy a fine dining experience then look no further than The Colannade at Hope and Glory in Irvington, Virginia. It created a wonderful memory for us that we look forward to returning to on another occasion.

Delicious dinner and Romantic setting! We were there for our anniversary and they sat us next to the fireplace and gave us complimentary Champagne to help celebrate!

My mother and I stayed at the Hope & Glory Inn and while there dined at The Colonnade. Chef Meseret gave us a dining experience we will never forget! Her sources for fresh produce and seafood, imaginative use of ingredients, and "just right" portion sizes were paired exquisitely with recommended wines. The meal couldn't have been more pitch perfect. Of special note, was the silky smooth, vanilla essence panna cotta served with a berry coulis for dessert. It was out of this world. I've never been the biggest fan of the dish, but Chef Meseret changed my mind!In addition to her culinary expertise, she is an excellent hostess and worldly woman. She was so gracious when she came to check on us to inquire about our dinner. I learned how she prepared the panna cotta and she and my mother conversed in German. We also learned Meseret has been at the H&G for 19 years - how fortunate for the the inn! She's a true asset to the H&G as is Heather who did a beautiful job serving us that evening. Bravo ladies!!

My husband and I take the opportunity to dine at the Colonnade at The Hope and Glory Inn 2x a year. Whether a special occasion or just time for us to enjoy the special culinary experience Chef Meseret delivers - we have after 10 years not been disappointed. Each course (usually 4) is personally crafted to each table by Chef. This experience is not mass production. When a good “cook” can deconstruct the elements as presented it says everything about the Chef’s talent at hand. Ingredients are personally chosen, farm/garden to table creates a perfectly executed meal. This evening in the midst of a tropical storm we enjoyed oysters ala Meseret, gazpacho with 8 different tomatoes and raspberry, a crab cake with no filler and accompanying sides and the finale-dessert of homemade pannacotta with fresh berry coulis. Wine pairing is suggested- it is spot on. Quiet intimate setting- if you have dietary needs speak up. At the end of the evening Chef Meseret arrives at your table to converse about the meal, take questions and feedback. The experience here is more personal than most - worth every penny.

Despite a high degree of anticipation for a fine dining experience in Irvington based on the many wonderful reviews, our experience was entirely consistent with the few Average and Poor reviews (which we didn't read until afterwards). We recommend that anyone looking to visit take the time to read those reviews and the lengthy responses by management before committing to a reservation. Overly expensive. Not particularly fine dining. The featured wines were a screw top red and a screw top white which had been left to sit at warm room temperature. Special request had to be made to review the charges and we never did get a printed copy. Around $900 for 4 of us.

Such a special evening! The waitress saw to our every need and request. The beautiful Inn provided a wonderful setting for perhaps the best meal we've had in years! All 4 courses were such a culinary delight. Thanks Chef Messeret for sharing your beautiful food magic with us!

My husband and I recently celebrated our anniversary at the Hope and Glory Inn in Irvington, VA, and we had the pleasure of dining at their on-site restaurant, The Colonnade. Their chef prepared an exceptional meal for us, from appetizers to dessert. Heather took care of us while dining, and she suggested an excellent wine that paired perfectly with our crab cakes. You need to make reservations in advance to dine at this restaurant, and they only serve a few days per week. We really enjoyed ourselves.

Just finished an excellent meal at The Colonnade at the Hope & Glory Inn. Chef Meseret showed great skill and finesse in preparing an excellent prix fix menu. We started off with three luscious oysters topped with asiago cheese and pesto, this was followed by the best gazpacho I have ever tested. It was made with multiple varieties of tomatoes and included the unexpected like black cherries, really top notch. Next was the main course, and again, it was the best crab cake I have ever had, all crab meat, no filler, simply delicious, it was accompanied by roasted vegetables, broccolini and a cornbread madeleine. The meal was capped off with an excellent panna cotta. Service was fantastic as well. I have traveled to well over 50 countries and eaten at many great restaurants and can safely say that I would put this meal in the upper echelon of food I have eaten over the years.

My wife and I had dinner here with a friend. Everything about the experience was excellent! The food was incredible and the servers were friendly and knowledgeable. The atmosphere is sophisticated yet welcoming. Chef Meseret Crockett even came out and introduced herself at the end of the meal. I highly recommend trying The Colonnade even if you have to travel to get there!!

My wife and I had problems getting return phone calls to make a dinner reservation for Valentines Day. Finally, we did. Our perseverance paid off. We had a great meal there. I spoke with Chef Meseret who explained that Covid was the source of the issue and her explanation appeared to be reasonable. What is most important was the quality of the meal, the service, and the upscale ambiance. All were top notch. For those who like to speak French, you will enjoy speaking with the Chef about her career, travels, food, and of course her cooking. It was all very enjoyable. We liked the wine so much that we purchased a second bottle to take home. We would recommend dining here and plan to go back ourselves. Bon appetite.

10 out of 10 anniversary dinner! It was just wonderful. Heather was our hostess and server and could not have been nicer nor more professional. Chef Meseret greeted us personally and chatted about the dinner, the fresh ingredients, and even a bit about life on the Northern Neck. The inn is lovely, the food was devine, and the celebration of our anniversary was an unforgettable experience. Highly recommend it!

I own a business in the Northern Neck area and frequent the Irvington area often, I always wanted to dine at the Hope and Glory Inn. Its appearance is so striking, and classic Virginia vintage. I stopped in on a Sunday and was fortunate to meet chef Mesert to discuss a company Christmas dinner. The Colonnade was the perfect place to bring my staff. Chef Mesert prepared a special 4 course meal of Chateaubriand that was perfectly prepared and served by Heather and staff. The chefs' Redbean filet had seasonings my vegetarian staff said was the best they ever had. The warmth of the fire and decorated nautical themed Christmas tree enriched the holiday season for us.. I was especially honored Chef Mesert came in on her day off to prepare our meal. We have been to all the restaurants in Kilmarnock and Irvington and by far this was the best. You do not want to miss this dining experience
