The service was great: I was greeted at the door, menu given to me as soon as a I sat down, and my drink order taken. I sat at the bar, and the lady that was serving behind the bar was fantastic. She didn't hover and was very personable. The restaurant wasn't too busy, but it did start picking up for dinner. There is a dining area with lots of tables as well as booths. They also have covered outdoor seating for when the weather is nicer. It wasn't too loud in there, but I think that's because it wasn't packed when I first got there.I ordered some calamari to start with and eggplant parmigiana for my entree. While waiting for my starter, I was served with bread which was pretty good. All dishes were plated beautifully! My calamari was delicious, but my eggplant parmigiana was a little bit bland. I expected a little bit more flavor, but it was okay.Overall, pretty solid experience. I may come back to try some of the other seafood dishes.

This has been our go-to Italian spot for some time. Our last visit will likely change that. We sat at the table that was partially in the bar (we didn't want to sit in the dark dining room and no other window tables were available). The server was, at best, unmindful of our table as she was too busy conversing with bar patrons. As well, the pizza was delivered terribly undercooked (and of course sending it back is not advised for obvious retaliatory reasons). Too many restaurants around here to be dissatisfied.

My husband and I came here for the first time on valentines day. We were able to get two seats at the bar since we did not plan ahead for reservations. Our bartender was amazing and she really had her work cut out for her as reservation started coming in. Never missed a beat though and gave us great service.We were very lucky to meet the chef and owner Mario, who truly treated us like royalty. I would highly suggest this restaurant for the ambience, food and great service.

Thanks for a ruined Valentine’s Day.No idea how the food or anything else was. Never got the chance. Take your business somewhere else where they know how to run a restaurant

We stoppped in early for an unplanned Valentines dinner and the dinner was amazing start to finish. I had a Black truffle gnocci with clams and it was excellent. The clams were very small but the dish was very good. The service was good early but then it became very busy and it appeared they didn't have enough staff but everything was great. Outstanding cocktails as well.

We had an amazing evening on a Thursday date night here! The atmosphere was wonderful, easy to talk and not too loud, service was amazing, staff very friendly and great at what they do, and the food even all the way down to their bread is amazing! Every detail is planned and executed wonderfully. Awesome local Italian restaurant and a must visit!

Food is good. Most Italian places taste like cardboard and a freezer. This place tasted like olives, capers, and freshly made tomato sauce. Service and atmosphere were ok. I wish they did lunch earlier. Portions were also surprisingly large.

My family and I had a very pleasant first visit. Our waitress, Adela, did an amazing job pacing our meal perfectly. I highly recommend the Branzino special with lobster risotto. It’s refreshing to find places that still deliver this level of food quality and professional yet friendly service.

I have been to many Italian Places all over the Washington Metro Area. I love Italian food. I can only say that I'll Cappero in one of the best Italian Food Restaurant in the area. The food is truly outstanding. I have tried many dishes. The chicken and veal piccata is the best I have ever had. You much try these dishes. Mario the owner/chef is the most kind, caring person you will ever meet. He cares about his customers to make sure they love his food. If you are ever in the area, you must stop there to truly enjoy delicious food. I rate this Restaurant a 10!!!

Nice first visit to Il Cappero. Our party enjoyed the fried green tomatoes, mozzarella sticks, and meatballs for appetizers; shrimp & pasta special, chicken parmesan, chicken piccata, and fettuccine bolognese for entrees; chocolate fondant and tiramisu for dessert; several glasses of wine and two espressos. Meals were good overall, the chicken piccata sauce deemed "a little too lemony" and the tiramisu "perfectly balanced". Our server Brent seemed to handle many tables with ease, dropping in to check on us at well-timed intervals. A solid choice for homestyle Italian.
