Roots is fantastic barbecue. When we walked in, the line was very long and we almost left. But they opened up a second register and we were through the line and finished eating inside of 30 minutes or so. Very efficient, quick service and the food is always great. Some of our favorite barbecue in northern Virginia.

The meat here is delicious! Monks is my go to for BBQ but this place definitely beats them as far as the meats go. Juicy and moist while monks can be more dry. Sandwiches are served on yummy bread that appears to be made in house or at least local. Definitely not what comes in bulk bags. My comparisons and criticisms come merely from my experience at other BBQ places near by...

I really wanted to love this experience, but that was not the case. The ordering process was good, very attentive staff at the counter. Chose the pork barbecue with fries and my wife had the smoked turkey sandwich with fries. Food came out quickly and the fries were hot and crisp. Portions are very generous, though they should be for the menu prices. The barbecue was not my favorite. The meat had a very salty taste, though I'm not sure it was actually high in salt content....
