The wife and I always like to try the little whole in the wall places. We went on a quick trip to Va a couple weeks ago and on the way home, stopped at this little dinner that I know I’ve passed a million times…it was probably one of the better ones we’ve went to! Food was fast, hot, and delicious! The staff were great! Definitely regret not stopping sooner!

Allow your employees to hand me a written menu!!! We, in the Covington, VA area, are mostly Senior Citizens! Some of us don't have Cell Phones to SCAN for the Menu! Trying to read the Menu on the Chalk Boards is RIDICULOUS!!! Our Eyesight is impaired, as are our necks, to be looking up!
The Food is Amazing, as are the Employees! However, if this Menu Option continues, you will be losing Customers!!
DO NOT WRITE UP A VALUED EMPLOYEE IF I WANT A HANDHELD MENU! THAT'S A VERY BAD POLICY 😳

Stopped in for Dinner after a very rough workweek. What an amazing end to a hard day. Best customer service ever, our waiter was friendly, helpful, fun and took great care of us. He made the prettiest ice cream brownie sundae ever too, truly a work of art. Our burgers were incredible. Perfectly cooked, very fresh, looked as great as they tasted, and the cook had such a positive and fun personality. The entire staff had us smiling, I definitely found my new favorite spot to eat.

Everyone working at Penny's Diner wants to be there. I can't remember the last time I felt that. Beyond pride in what they do.....I hope the manager, Fasil will tell me how to spell his name when I go back, because I 100% will be back. Thank you Penny's Diner!

Stopped while passing through town based on previous reviews and was disappointed. Wanted meat loaf but they were out of mashed potatoes (at 6:30 pm) so opted for breakfast instead. Took a long time to get food, with no apologies as to wait. Omelette was good, hash browns were soggy and delivered as I was finishing my omelette. Hubby got pancakes that required a knife to cut through.

Very nice place, great people and good food, but corporate is messing it up, if you can’t use a smartphone you can’t see the menu, which is compete BS!!!! Older folks and those who don’t have or know how to use a smartphone are out of luck, they used to have the cheapest menus that I’ve ever seen, but they were cool and use, probably cost him all of the quarter to print all of them for the whole, but I guess that was too much, just makes it hard on a lot of people. The people are great, and feel bad for those who can’t access the menu.
I'm a honest reviewer and I give most people the benefit of the doubt.Being so far out having no ther choice we decided to stop in. The old lady manager cashier was racist, stared at us the whole time. We got burgers and fries with one phillycheese steak platter. First going into the place it was very unsanitary, the waitress was trash tonight. My sweet tea had white stuff floating at the top she went to put her fingers in it to get it out stopped and was like I'll just get you another. The cook was nice gave us hope the food would be good but let down it was. He tried with what he had I guess but burgers pink and the ranch wouldn't come out of little containers. Ranch didn't have a smell but the taste was so bad no point in complaining our waitress was disgusting and loud. Total ended up being 52$ for three people for basic food order. Pickles were slimy and flies everywhere when I say more than I could count. If you want a sit down restaurant to be overpriced, disgusting people and they told us they didn't have menus to scan QR. So we did but they told us not to order on it because it doesn't always work. We ordered through the waitress and she rewrote it multiple times and kept getting it wrong she had a shaved head and glasses if the company happens to see this review. Then told us most of the menu they won't have anymore so we had to ask about each item and they only have pie no ice cream at the moment. Told us to come back tomorrow if we wanted ice cream after there truck comes in. Also, on top of all that wouldve told our waitress we needed ketchup or about the ranch but she never came back to our table to ask if we needed anything. I don't know how they are open. No health rating in site.

Quaint and cozy. Small, old school diner and you can see the cook make your food right there, which is cool! Comes right to you off the griddle, hot... and the fries were crispy and delicious. Burger was excellent.
