Unexpected authentic culinary experience! Lovely staff, generous portions! Highly recommend the snail appetizer and grab a pretzel (homemade mustard is perfect) and carrot cake to go!
Brought my family here for a late Father’s Day celebration. We have passed it when heading to Charlottesville multiple times and always wanted to stop in. Online reviews were great. We are originally from western Massachusetts where there were two fantastic German restaurants in our small city.
Food was plentiful and tasty. Service was good. But atmosphere is lacking. Significantly. The place is very old. Desperately in need of some updates. Carpets....

Excellent German cuisine! The interior is traditional equipped with table cloths and (female) staff wearing German clothing. The food was phenomenal and the service was on the nail. I enjoyed the zest of the pretzel’s beer cheese and my chicken dish was properly garnished and seasoned. If you come as a group (6+ I believe) you are served free sides as pictured. A bit on the pricier side, however the show they put on makes it worth it.
