They were busy and I think our server was a bit new. Sat in the patio area.

I’ve been a big fan of Great American Restaurants for over 20 years — their consistency and great food always keep me coming back. But I’m honestly disappointed with Coastal Grill in Tysons Corner. I took my family there two weekends in a row to escape the cold, and both times the kids’ menu items weren’t available.

We tried ordering the kids’ salmon — “we don’t have it.”
Tried the kids’ steak — same answer.

If you don’t have these items, why keep them on the menu? We ended up ordering a full entrée salmon for a four‑year‑old, which makes no sense. Management really needs to address this ASAP.

Went to Mike’s the other day — everything listed on the menu was actually available. That’s how it should be!!!

Really enjoy my time here. My wife always gets the same thing but I enjoy trying different things. The ausi rolls are always amazing and the dips are super good. They are usually really good about special orders or modifying the order. They are a booth only restaurant which is nice.

My wife and family go to Coastal Flats often. Never had a bad experience from any of the ones we've been to.

The food is very good, service is dependable, and it's a fun atmosphere with a lot of vibe. Can be a little noisy and you have to make reservations most of the time to get a table. Quality of food seems to have come down a little bit from other visits to the restaurant.

My first time eating at Coastal Flats. The food was very good. Our server Fabrizio was fantastic. I would expect nothing less from a Great American Restaurant brand.

The wait here is INSANE!!!!! Waited 1 hour and 45 minutes with renovation and still nothing. We left not coming here again!!!

The rating is due to this restaurant grouping families with children together in the back of the restaurant. Everyone should feel welcomed regardless of location.

We’ve been going to Coastal Flats for years and always meant to finally leave a review—because this place truly never disappoints. The menu is loaded with favorites, starting with the Ozzie Rolls—warm, fluffy, and completely addictive. No matter what we order, it’s always a hit: lobster roll, lobster bisque, ribeye, burger, grilled chicken, salmon, pecan-crusted trout, lobster salad—you really can’t go wrong.

Service is efficient, friendly, and consistently on point, even during busy times. The seating area is comfortable and welcoming, making it an easy choice for both casual meals and special outings. Reliable, polished, and crowd-pleasing every single time—five stars, without question.

We’ve been to Coastal Flats several times for lunch and have generally had good experiences, but this most recent visit was disappointing enough that it will likely be our last for a while.

I had already eaten a late breakfast, but my friend needed lunch, so we ordered the Babycake Sliders for the table and a bowl of soup. When the food runner arrived, he placed a plate on the table and said something we couldn’t hear. The items didn’t look like what I expected sliders to be, but my friend put one on her plate and I took a bite of mine.

A few moments later, our server came over with another plate and said, “Babycake sliders.” It became clear that the first plate we had been given was incorrect. She placed the correct sliders on the table, then immediately removed the other food—including the items we had already taken from the plate and started eating—and said that if we wanted to keep them, we would be charged. She said she would check with the manager but didn't think we could keep the incorrect food without paying. She never came back with the taken food after supposedly checking with the manager and never returned to check on our meal or offer drink refills, and I ran out of ice tea.

We later flagged her down, and she stated that it was restaurant policy that all mistaken food is thrown away. She was adamant that it was Coastal Flats policy. We were surprised and upset, particularly by the idea that food, already on our table and being eaten, would be just thrown in a garbage can. Food waste!

When we asked to speak with a manager, he told us that the server had been incorrect about the policy and that she knows now. We appreciated the manager’s honesty, but by that point the experience had already left a bad impression after having food taken off our table and being told a story.

Despite tipping well, the combination of the removal of food, being told a story, and the lack of follow-up service left us disappointed. Because of this experience, Coastal Flats in Tysons Corner will no longer be our top go-to lunch spot.

Reservations highly recommended during busy days and times.
Disappointed with crabcake sandwich given cost. Sandwich came with no fixings. Had to ask for dressing, lettuce, tomatoes etc..., which are usually provided even at most lesser fast food chain establishments for a similar sandwich.
