I am a regular customer that comes every week. The only reason why I come every week is because of the manager Claudia and the bartender Roberto. They are simply the best. They really take great care of their customers and their regulars. Every time I come they always know what I want to order. All staff at this location is great. Love the atmosphere and food. My favorite spot!

Our server, Estelle, did a great job greeting us quickly, taking our order, and checking in throughout our stay! Our food came quickly and was good! The manager on duty, Jordan, was also very attentive checking in on our table while watching the host stand too!

Pizza was pretty tasty. Atmosphere was ok. I ordered takeout directly from the manager Claudia and she intentionally overcharged even after I pointed it out. Tried to get a substitution and she insisted it was “impossible”.

Have started to eat at Matchbox a few times a month. The food is good to great (Fried Chicken!!!) and the drinks are very nice. One of the highlights is a bartender/waitress named Angie. She approaches your table with a big smile and can't do enough for you. She has made the past few times we've visited an even better experience than expected!!! We will be back soon.

I’m a regular customer at Matchbox. Usually get take out but decided to dine in yesterday with my family. When I walked in, it was clear the restaurant was very busy. They sat us near the kitchen. After placing our order, the manager (I’m assuming based on his attire) walked past us and appeared furious with the kitchen. He screamed at the employees inside the kitchen while the staff looked visibly scared and ran out of his side in the kitchen. Although I couldn’t discern the exact words, the manager’s aggression left every employee visibly shaken. A few minutes later, I witnessed him angrily grab a packaged order, tearing it open and throwing it in the trash. I don’t understand what could have caused him to act so unprofessionally and especially in front of customers. If he acts this way in front of customers, I can only imagine how he treats the employees behind closed doors. The restaurant was packed to the brim and even with the disgusting attitude the manager had, my server tried her best to distract us with a smile. Not only did the manager’s 50 year old tantrum ruin my dining experience, but the conduct he displayed created an uncomfortable and inappropriate atmosphere for my family and as well as those dining near us. I am genuinely concerned about the impact of such behavior on the overall reputation of Matchbox and its effect on the morale of the hardworking staff. Despite the delicious food, this incident will have us never coming back again. I am extremely disappointed in what was supposed to be a pleasant family outing. I do not want an apology. If this man-child is the manager, someone needs to reflect on his suitability and maturity level for the role. Next time think before you act. 0 stars.

I would describe Matchbox as a solid choice, if you live in Tysons/McLean area, and you're pressed for time. The menu is Modern American, with options for brick oven pizza -- it has just enough of a variety that everyone should be able to choose something that appeals to them. The space is quite open and I love the fact that the majority of the seating are set up as booths. Side note: I wish more restaurants could be set up this way, it gets you out of the way of the servers and wait staff going up and down the aisles. -- [I realize for restaurants with smaller footprint, it's impractical, as booths take up more space] We came in at 6:30, and we were able to get a table easily, but the restaurant was filling up soon after. We got the Garden Veggie pizza, it said it had roasted vegetables, and the Herb Crusted Salmon Salad - both were quite good. We finished off with one of their dessert items - Donuts. I wish I could have taken a photo of this fried bit of deliciousness, but sadly we attacked it too quickly for me to take a decent photo. In lieu of a photo, let me describe it to you: It wasn't quite a beignet, but it wasn't just some donut either. It was something in between dusted with powdered sugar and it came with a side of two different sauces: chocolate and raspberry. The service was fine, but I think our server was somewhat new (??) -- she seemed somewhat unfamiliar with the menu, when we had questions and taking our order, I think our entire table lowered our expectations slightly to account for possible hiccups with our order. Bottom line, it's the convenience of this restaurant, because the thought of dealing with mall traffic and parking, just to get dinner, especially if you are pressed for time, makes this place ideal

I have to say this Matchbox in McLean is really nice. Lots of windows, a bit of outdoor seating, a great menu and good food. That said I'd say the portion sizes in some cases are a head scratcher. I had the crispy chicken Cobb salad and it was $18. Look closely at the photo and the chicken portion . The old bay wing were cooked to perfection and delicious. I would service was friendly but not as attentive. I would definitely go again but like a lot of places, the check seemed a bit high for the portion size!

Just had dinner there, our server was Bashir (spelling?). He is only 2 weeks on the job and he was so excellent. Very attentive, very professional, very friendly. We go to Matchbox a lot, and all the servers are amazing, the food is consistently good, the cocktail and wine selection great, lots of booths (great for families!), we love this place, it has become our Friday night dinner tradition.

Definitely the best matchbox in DMV we've been to! The food was so tasty. What we really enjoyed was the amazing service. From the gentleman that answered the phone for our reservation to our server, they were so polite, respectful, good-natured, and knew their job well. Khalil especially made us feel welcomed, gave us great recommendations, and took such good care of us.

Food quality for the price is lacking. Small portions. Need a more diverse menu. Draft Beer prices are about $2 high. Sad, Mclean needs a restaurant like this..... They can and should do better.
