Based this experience, I can only give a 'reluctant' 4-stars *only* because the ingredients used were really fresh. Past Peter Chang visits at other locations seem like the entrees were created for tourists and this theme seems to have permeated to this location as well. It's been a mystery on what the Peter Chang created cuisine is meant to celebrate since the Chinese entrees carry marketed Sichuan or Chengdu flavors that are very muted, lackluster, and just brand-name expensive.
What is carrying the 4-star is the use of very fresh ingredients which is an absolute must if a restaurant wants to survive in this super-affluent McLean neighborhood; otherwise, I would have assigned a 3-star rating. We ordered the Dry-spicy combo hot pot, Chengdu seafood with crispy rice, Dragon eggplang with garlic sauce, and Amish duck bone soup with pickled radish.
What made dinner enjoyable? ..... the highly considerate staff. Again, good staff service would be a must in this affluent McLean neighborhood. Other than fresh ingredients and considerate service, I can pass on visiting Peter Chang moving forward.
Why pass on Peter Chang for me? We ordered the most Sichuan/Chengu spicy entree and nothing was ma-la/chengdu/sichuan spicy at all (this was the biggest let down of the entire dinner). The eggplant was cloyingly, aggressively too sweet. The Amish duck soup was supremely salty. And the Chengdu seafood entree was only adequate. Now the plating is another awkward story. The plating for all dishes were not practical at all and the spoon utensil seems more for show than ladling any liquid at the bottom of the bowl or plate. The dry hot pot swiveled like a gryoscope whenever you are mixing ingredients to prevent burnt food at the bottom. The huge bowl for the Chengdu seafood had such a small base, it could tip at any moment. Come to think of it, the plating and dishware seem to be prioritized higher than the flavor of the food. On top of all this, the price for each entree is nose-bleed high for the lack of authenticity in the entree recipes. To add insult to injury, each bowl of white rice was billed separately and didn't come with ordered entrees.

I ordered four main dishes, but they only provided one serving of rice. I didn’t realize this until I received my order, as I assumed each dish would come with its own rice. When I called the restaurant, they explained that since I ordered three main dishes and one noodle dish, I would either need to order a fourth dish or pay extra for additional rice. However, there was no mention of this policy on the menu or when I placed my order over the phone. It’s quite disappointing, especially considering this restaurant is located in the heart of McLean.

Fantastic food, attentive servers, clean environment. Saw lots of families in there. Bubble pancake is fun and delicious. Soup dumplings are great. Duck rolls and honey pork ribs were amazing. Gotta come back to try the rest of the menu.
Vegetarian options: There is a whole section dedicated to vegetarian cuisine
Parking: Plenty of space in free lot
Kid-friendliness: They have high chairs and booster seats

Go for things that are dry-Sczechwan, those seem to me some of the best dishes on the menu. The pork belly with dried (but rehydrated) mustard greens is great.

Service was amazing from the moment we stepped in to the moment we stepped out. Every member of the wait staff was friendly and accommodating, with several table touches from our server and the manager.
Each dish was delicious. They made sure the spice and numbing levels were perfect to suit our tastes.
The jasmine beer, yuzu beer, and green peppercorn beers were all amazing. This location has a great beer selection and really nice decor.
Only downside is somewhat limited parking at times, but that wasn't an issue today.
Would definitely come again ?

It is only one step above a cafeteria.
The staff clearing tables and dropping silverware and dishes into large bins on a cart, made enough noise to remind you of your high-school era. Not a dining experience.
Food is a step above fast food Chinese.
My clothes reaked with the smell of food, from poor venelation.
My question is, if you have 4 or 5 good producing restaurants, why the need to keep opening others.?? It is not possible to keep quality control.
Let's say, it is the Ruby Tuesdays of Chinese food.
First visit and we will be back. Very good food served by attentive staff

I had previously visited the original establishment in Richmond, so my expectations were high even before I walked in. While the food here wasn’t as great as in Richmond, it was definitely one of the best compared to other Peter Chang locations outside southern Virginia. The tea was refreshingly good, and the chongqing spicy chicken and bubble pancake were hands down the best. The DanDan noodles were okay; I have had better elsewhere. That being said, this place made me crave those foods so much that I visited more Peter Chang locations, and this one was the best among them all after the original. This made me realize that these locations are operated independently. The food at this location was the best among all, and it was very evident that they use high-quality ingredients. The service was amazing, and the ambiance was incredibly great.

Title: Terrible Treatment and Rude Response at Peter Chang Mclean
I to share a distressing experience my 88-year-old aunt had at Peter Chang Mclean. She went there for lunch with her friends and ran into some people attending the same church. After exchanging greetings, my aunt and her friend finished their lunch, paid, and left the restaurant.
On her way home, she received a call from one of the people still at the restaurant. The person asked if my aunt had left without paying because the restaurant worker claimed my aunt hadn’t paid and asked them to cover her bill. This was deeply humiliating for my aunt.
Fortunately, my aunt kept her receipt. She sent a picture of it to the person and called the restaurant to clear things up. The restaurant admitted to giving her the wrong bill but said that since the bill she paid was $4 less than her actual bill, she should consider herself lucky. This response was incredibly rude and dismissive.
It's unacceptable to treat customers this way, especially an elderly one. I strongly recommend avoiding this restaurant due to their poor customer service and disrespectful treatment of my aunt.
Peter Chang’s restaurant always provides pretty good quality Chinese food. This location is relatively new. We like Brussels sprouts with tofu, Peking duck, green beans and fried rice. The service is just okay, but we will come back for the food. There’s a small parking lot behind the restaurant.

Super yummy - this Peter Chang location has become one of my favorite Chinese restaurants.
My favorites are the dry hot pot and, surprisingly, the beef tendon appetizer. I got the beef tendon once accidentally and became hooked on the chewy texture and delicious chili oil! Mmmm.
I have always received courteous service, and I atmosphere-wise, I really appreciate that it is somewhat quiet, so you can actually converse with your meal-mates and not leave feeling like you've sustained hearing damage.
