Bonchon is one of my favorite Korean/ Asian spots in the central Virginia area. The vibe of the restaurant is one like no other. Its dim lights and comfortable seating started us out with an amazing vibe at the beginning of our trip to Bonchon. The service did seem a little slow, it took the waiter a little while to get to us, but it looked like he was serving every table by himself and he was working very hard. He was a super nice guy and tried his best. I won't take any points off for that, because there's nothing they can do if they are short staffed. All of this food took 10 minutes to come out which was felt super quick. As for the taste of the food, we were blown away. The popcorn shrimp had the perfect ratio of breading to shrimp. The spicy mayo it came with was not overwhelmingly spicy but added a really nice complimentary flavor to the shrimp. The shrimp was good quality and the serving was generous as well. They were also hot in temperature which is nice to see that we weren't served cold food. The potstickers were phenomenal! They were crispy on the edges which is something that a lot of Asian places miss on. They were then filled with a soft pork filling which was great in quality. The soy garlic sauce on top, gave it a nice tang and added some flavor as well. As for the wings, they were absolutely incredible. The double fried monstrous drumsticks were the best in my opinion. The quality of the meat was amazing, it offered a juicy and fall off the bone quality of meat. The wings were great as well, I think they were a lot crunchier because of how small they were, but they still had a great amount of meat on them. The white rice it came with was typical white rice. I really enjoyed my experience at Bonchon. I wish it was a little more affordable, but for all the food you get and the quality, I think it is well worth it. This fed my girlfriend and I and we were both pleased with Bonchon. I highly recommend this spot to anyone who either hasn't tried Korean bbq or anyone looking for a change of pace in their Asian food rotation!

I am so upset about the experience I received at Bonchon on my last visit. Me and my family usually eat here quite often and tip very well. However this experience was not so good. We were first in line and waited ten minutes to be seated, once seated two other parties came in after us. They were seated promptly, waited on, and received their drinks before we were even greeted. Another 20 minutes have went by and we eventually got up from our seat to ask when will we receive some service. The waiter came and took our order while not making eye contact with no one in our party. The food was good but we were not checked on throughout our visit and I was really upset with the service we received because we always come here and support but this was a disappointment.

This was a pick up by me. The BonChon website needs some tweaking, because it lost my items in cart about 4 different times in the process of checking out. The most frustrating over complicated Food Website I've encountered. I imagine less determined customers like myself, just went on to Italian food or some other take out site. The food was hot , but I wasn't able to add the complimentary sauces (2) and when I asked about putting in the Ranch dressings the Manager said the dishes had sauce on them. Never argue with the Customer Manager. I didn't want anything for free , they were complimentary if the Website wasn't like an IRS itemization form. Food is good , but for the money , you don't get much.

Just had the best experience. Order came pretty quick. Food was really great. I asked for a change of spice on mine and they nailed it. Service was perfect. (Gets better) Got a to-go order of wings, got home and discovered THEY WERE THE BEST EVER!!! Will absolutely make the trip there again. Bravo

My wife and I were out getting some craft supplies nearby. We could smell the food being cooked from down the parking lot. I wanted to find out what it was, and I was able to pinpoint it this place. I knew it was this place as soon as we walked through the door.We came in right after the lunch crowd was done and were seated right away. We ordered waters and then started to review the menu. This being my first time at this type of cuisine, I wanted to order something new, and something I could not pronounce. When I choose like this, I do not read descriptions of what is in the dish, so I have no expectations on what to expect.I ordered the bulgogi, zucchini fries (seasoned), and my wife ordered the fried chicken strips with coleslaw. When the food came to the table I was pleasantly surprised to see the dish was a large stone bowl, which was piping hot. It kept my food warm the entire time I was eating. The bulgogi was fresh, not just fresh made, but you could tell they used fresh ingrdients. The carrots that were used had a wonderful flavor. The mushrooms were amazing, and the kale was excellent as well. There were other items in this dish, but the freshness of these really spoke to me. I was happy to find a portion of rice hiding under all of this. The sauce that came with it had a little kick to it, but was not so over powering that it took away from the flavors of the fresh ingredients. The zucchini fries were well done, and seasoned well too. They came with some spicy dipping sauce, which has a little more of a kick than the sauce in my other dish, but was perfect, as it did not hit you so hard as to be too much.I was also able to steal a few peices of my wife's chicken, which was amazing, and went well in the bulgogi. They also had a sign about getting free chicken wings if you check in on a specific social media platform. So, I went ahead and did this. This got me 2 free wings, so I decided to try their spicy wings. The spicy wings are hot, but not in the normal burn your face off way. The use of spices and the other flavors in the sauce used make a delayed heat hit you. In addition to this delayed burn, as you eat more of it, it slightly cools the heat, and then builds slowly on the level, but not to an intensity that is not manageable. We have determined that this place hits a special spot in the food world for us, and have put this on our list as a favorite place to go. What is more, I was extremely surprised to learn that this is a larger chain of restaurants, and I look forward to testing the food consistently between locations. I hope to find that they eat like a hole in the wall place, but at all of their locations, as I expect them to keep the same flavor consistency and same level to details in their ingredients.

Did take out for a family meal. Waited 45 minutes for the food to get done. Got home and my food order was incorrect. I will not eat here for a while. Service was terrible. I had to drive back to get the correct food. It wasn't today by the way it on December 29 just had time today to share my experience.

David, the manager at the time when my order was place was very accommodating in splitting my order in two separate boxes for me. The last time we got half and half, the liner leaks the spicy sauce into the soy garlic and my kids did not enjoy the spice threshold. David was happy to have my order this time around split to avoid the chaos. Thank you so much!

Yuck. No, thank you. We received decent service from the waitress, but that was about it. This place was gross. Tables dirty, floors were sticky when walked across, "clean" dishes provided were greasy, both restroom toilets were flooded, and the place just felt gross. We almost left prior to ordering but had heard how good the food was and really wanted to try it. Wasn't worth it. We had the fried chicken legs and strips. Both were overcooked. Split the order with different sauces. They weren't horrible, but they weren't great either. Wish the quality of food and facility had been better. Had really heard good things about the food. Restaurant has about to receive new owners so maybe we will try again later in the future.
