Love it all! Maybe too much, from BBQ to desserts.

I purchased a pulled pork bbq sandwich. The pork was minced with an overwhelming taste of vinegar. I chose collard greens for my side. It's was tangy with the vinegar taste. I'm from South Carolina. it's hard to mess up the collard greens for me. The service was good. The food was not.

the brisket was honestly probably the worst brisket i’ve ever had. no flavor at all:/ however, the mac and cheese was to DIE for. reminded me of stoffers kinda but more homemade definitely get the mac and cheese!

Busy busy on a Saturday afternoon. Shaffer's has been making their smoked pork and other dishes for years. Always good. It is smoky outside when they're cooking but there are seats inside also.

Shaffer's is a fantastic little gem of a place. It's in Middletown, Virginia, which is a lovely small town in the Shenandoah Valley. Shaffer's is on the edge of town in a really great location. The food is to die for and the hospitality is really warm and friendly. This place should be on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives. It doesn't get better than this.

I recently visited this restaurant while on a trip. The location is a bit out of the way but still within the town limits. It appears to have been a gas station at some point.

Upon entering, you can smell the delicious aroma of BBQ meats. The lady behind the counter was very welcoming and patient. She waited while I stared in awe at the extensive menu of delicious items to choose from.
After placing my order, I visited the bathroom to wash my hands. The bathroom was clean and had everything you'd require in it.
Shortly after, our food was ready. They have a variety of spices to accompany your selections with. We took our plates outside and sat in front on their picnic tables.

The food was delicious. All the items ordered were exquisite. The place lived up to its name. The ribs were not overcooked. The fried chicken was juicy also. Their sauces complimented the meats great. Overall, I recommend this place to anyone who can travel to it. It was a nice experience and a very satisfying and delicious meal. Would love to visit again.
There is a nice store with a large variety of spices, seasoning, and different types of rubs you can purchase to attempt to replicate their goodness on your own at home.
Thank you for keeping this place going.

Nice, locally owned restaurant located about 5 miles off I-81. Good ribs, pulled chicken and sides. Pulled pork was okay and had a wet mix that I wasn't expecting. Not a sauce tho.
Some seating in restaurant and at back of parking area.

I was tired of fast food while traveling and I was in the mood for some bbq. I’m glad I told my husband because he found this place on the next exit from where we were driving and he said it had a 4.7 with over 800 reviews!
With those numbers I HAD to try it! Man oh man, was it delicious! We both had the brisket sandwich 1/3 pound and it looked like a half pound there was so much delicious meat on it! They asked if we wanted the slaw for it and of course I wanted to try it. I also saw a redneck Egg roll so I had to try that too! I got the Mac n cheese side and my husband got baked beans. The Mac n cheese reminded me of the church potlucks I used to go to as a child with my great aunt. Obviously homemade and really delicious! The baked beans were really flavorful as well. The egg roll was AMAZEBALLS it came with some sweet n sour bbq sauce mix that was so good we put it on our sandwiches after we finished the egg roll! Only down side is, we are stuffed and still have 4 hours left of driving but definitely no regrets and as a matter of fact, I saved this place in my favorites so we can come back on our drive home next week!

This is the first time we've been to Shaffer Barbecue. It's a pretty laid-back and relaxed atmosphere. We sat in a side room that overlooks Cedar Creek Battlefield. The food was really good, but like everywhere else, the prices are high. If you haven't tried Shaffers, you should give them a try.

Cute country pit stop with good barbecue at great prices. They give you enough food to keep you full all day! The barbecue sauces are a bit thin, but still flavorful. There are a lot of great items for purchase in the store and was fun for shopping
