The food was called in and had to wait, no big deal the phone had been off hook for 30 minutes prior. Once ordered went to pick up, had correct food on ticket but got home the fajitas had no rice, beans, toppings or tortillas to go with just the chicken and vegetables and my sons tacos i asked for hard shell plain with nothing but chicken- again, when opening them at home and they had cheese melted all in the chicken no way to pick it off. This place is as close to a 10/10 that I’ve gotten since living in Richmond. The wait staff are attentive, the service is speedy, but most importantly THE FOOD! I have been looking for good classic Mexican rice and beans since moving to Richmond 3 years ago and have been disappointed at every turn with white rice (not arroz rojo) and undercooked beans until trying this place. I have eaten at El Cerro Azul many times over the years and was always happy with the food and service. Last week I was craving a burrito, so I went in for lunch. I had a Mixteca burrito and a medium margarita. The total was $33 and ended up over $40 with tax and tip. $40 for lunch!? With prices at that level, I cannot justify going out to eat. Sadly, I won't be back for a while.
