“The ambiance at this restaurant is truly beautiful and calming, making it the perfect setting for a special occasion. We were here tonight to celebrate our anniversary, and the experience was just as amazing as it was three years ago when we held our daughter's graduation luncheon in the private dining room.Our server, Olivia, was fantastic. Despite how busy the restaurant was, she managed to check on us regularly without a single hiccup in her service. While I did have to remind her about our anniversary note on the reservation, she handled it professionally and quickly, making the rest of the evening feel special.We were so impressed with the food and service during our last visit, and it's wonderful to see that the high standards have been maintained. This is clearly a place that excels at celebrating life's big moments. We highly recommend it.“

“We had dinner at Chef's Kitchen tonight, Feb. 21st. Our waiter Ben was amazing, as was the food. We started with the Burrata and Dumplings, both of which were mouth watering and glorious. My greatest fear is that those dumplings will haunt my dreams forever. I could probably eat them daily. I am telling you it was a religious experience. If not a religious experience then possibly a spiritual experience. I believe if Anthony Bourdain ate here he would have something pithy and wonderful to say. Something cultured and refined. For an entree we both had the braised duck gnocchi which was pillowy, creamy, and delicious. We paired the meal with a Cab Franc from barboursville which was decently priced and absolutely sublime. Give this place an opportunity. Eat here. My wife and I both agree that it is the best meal we have shared together in many years. Oh and ask for Ben and tip him well. He's the man.“
“I held my final Board Meeting of the year at Bartizan the first week of December. I asked that the room be festive and cozy and they knocked it out of the park. The food was delicious with many of my members saying it was the best steak they had ever eaten! Although all of this was great, the best part of the event was the team and staff I worked with to plan the meeting. My Board is still talking about the meeting and how great it was and trust me, that doesn't happen often!“

“This spot delivers a good breakfast experience with great service. They've got all the traditional breakfast items, but also some really creative spins on French toast and pancakes. If you love a sweet start to your day, you'll be happy with the many choices here. We felt well taken care of by the staff.“

“The food, as always was incredible and a good value - I had the baked shrimp Chesapeake, with tons of crab and shrimp. Delicious! The veggies were cooked and seasoned perfectly. The Hanover Tomato Caprese salad was fresh and light. My only complaint was that the air conditioning units (not central air) were not working in some areas, which no one seemed surprised about. The banquet room in the front was much cooler but they said they wouldn't seat anyone there even though it was open that night. Leaving customers uncomfortable in a hot dining room when you have a large banquet room that's cool, does not feel like putting the customer first.“

We went on a Saturday night without a reservation. I would recommend having a reservation to others because I felt like we got lucky. Waited about 20 minutes to get a seat.
The hostess was helpful, and the wait staff was attentive. Food came out relatively quickly.
The inside of the restaurant was lively, very attractive, and all of the patrons looked to be completely enjoying themselves.
Started with the basket of cornbread, and could see immediately that it was dripping in butter. Light, tender, and slightly sweet. Probably the most enjoyable cornbread I have ever had. My wife had meatloaf, mashed potatoes with brown gravy, and mac n cheese. She enjoyed all. I found the mac n cheese tasty, but not noteworthy. I had country fried chicken, mashed potatoes with chicken gravy, and stewed tomatoes. Mashed potatoes were excellent, and stewed tomatoes were a revelation on how well they could be prepared. The disappointment of the meal was the chicken. It was drier and tougher than I had had at nice restaurants like this in a very long time. I should have sent it back, but I did not.
Overall, we were both very happy with Southern Kitchen. We will be back.“
