Bartolo’s was a great welcoming experience for my boyfriend and I. While visiting the area we were unsure about a great Mexican restaurant but we came to find Bartolo’s as an amazing place to dine. The atmosphere was cozy with very attentive service. Thank you Jessica for the great experience and conversation and for making our visit welcoming.

I had a steak quesadilla. The rice and beans were very dry, like they had been sitting out a long time. The steak lacked flavor and was tough. It tasted like it had mozzarella cheese - it was more like a cheesesteak than a quesadilla. The lemonade tasted like sugar water with no lemon. The service was slow…. It took 15 minutes to switch drinks. Two employees (including the waitress) spent most of the time I was there sitting at a table on their phones. Their new card system wasn’t working properly. The dining area is nice and clean.

It's a standard Mexican restaurant ambiance, but the food is just awful.We were served chips and ... something tomatoey when we first sat down. The people I was with couldn't decide if the tomato stuff was ketchup or marinara, but it was not salsa at all. I'm not even being mean here it was just not salsa. It was a paste.I ordered the guadillajara special. Supposedly one chicken and one beef taquitos, one tamale, and nachos.I got 2 chicken taquitos. No tamale (no one said a word about being out of them they just didn't give it) and the nachos were made of smashed taco shells instead of chips (which they clearly had. You get a basket of chips first thing).I will not return.I'd rather drive all the way to Harrisonburg for Mexican food.

The food was great & Jessica was the best. She was super helpful and friendly. Very knowledgeable and professional. I’m glad they dropped the Italian and focused more on Mexican & burgers. Can’t wait to go back to enjoy this place again!

UPDATE: They are under new management. I called to place an order and had the pleasure of speaking with Jessica. She was very professional and had a very personable demeanor. She easily and quickly answered my questions about the food items showing her knowledge about the menu. She stated that they now have new chefs making the items. They have kept all of the Mexican dishes and no longer serve any of the Italian ones. (Makes sense for a Mexican restaurant.) These are family recipes and you can tell. Muy delicioso!!!!! I had the Special La Hacienda. It was two ground beef enchiladas topped with queso. I also ordered chips and salsa. Everything was fresh and delicious. They have a vast menu including a children’s menu. Something for everyone including vegetarians. They are now offering free delivery within ten miles. This is wonderful!!!
