It used to be more elegant. Tables cloths etc. We were seated in the middle of a room which was a walking corridor on either side of us, so it was not a peaceful setting. The wood table had sticky glass stains on it, just screaming for a tablecloth. The food was good and the server was very nice. But the whole ambiance was like a Disney move 'em in, move 'em out experience. It would be so much nicer with some thoughtful touches like candles (electric) and better table...
You dine at Mount Vernon for the experience and the peanut soup. Service was great, food ok. We were on a main traffic way for servers and people being seated in the bar area so noise and distractions were frequent. All said would come back.
Dinner selection was excellent. The food was prepared perfectly. Atmosphere was fun, sort of felt like General Washington would walk in. Of course, I had to get a slice of cherry pie.
