The Great Machipongo Clam Shack

We had been on trails in the area all morning and realized it was late afternoon & we hadn't eaten. As we were driving we saw the billboard for this place & decided to do the order ahead.

We both got the mix & match as well as an additional order to share, if needed, because we were so hungry. We only needed our own mix & match (saved the other for a late night snack), which we ate at one of their picnic tables.

The server was friendly when we went to pick up the food & a few people were inside eating. After being outside all morning and afternoon, it seemed fitting to enjoy our food in the trees at the picnic tables. The temperature was perfect. It wasn't buggy at all. It was the perfect late lunch, food and atmosphere combined. We'll definitely stop there again if we are passing through.

If ordering to go, they give you all the sauces you need as well as napkins and plastic silverware. If eating outside, there are plenty trash cans to get rid of your trash when you are done eating.

This place did not disappoint! Had the fried shrimp with Cole slaw! It was delicious. My Aunt frequents this restaurant and had the same. Nothing fancy, just a locals restaurant, which are the best!

I came here and had, what else, fried clams, and they were delicious. The wait was long and that was a bit of a thing, because we were on our way home from OBX and not planning on a 45 minute stop, the the tasty lunch was a good justification.

There is plenty of parking and the staff were friendly. Portions are generous and sides are fresh.

Best quahogs ever!!! Thier food is excellent. Such a great aray of frozen fish and cakes.Also soups shirts , books,wines, beers and pretty much everything. A must Stop in place.🦀🎣

Overall the food was okay. The shrimp tacos were tasty. They were out of a lot of menu items by 6ish on a Saturday, even crabs. They don't do raw oysters.

Food was awful, menu very limited for non seafood eaters. Took long time to get food. Signs prompting tips for wait staff you barely see. Everything is in disposable to go boxes and you were expected to clean your own table. Not worth it to me. Don't recommend.

Had a man and woman singing and playing guitar. It was nice food was excellent. I had a student driver from Michigan and it was first time eating from our local area so thanks for not disappointing me while I tried to show off eastern shore food.

I was really let down by this place. I expected greatness based on previous reviews.
First, we get sat at a booth that the waitress told us “be careful” the AC unit above the table drips onto the actual table. 😳 We asked to move.
Then the prices are pretty high compared to the food portions received. Everything came to the table in to-go cups/containers. They give paper plates with plastic utensils. The seafood was 7/10 but the fries were not even done. Just disappointed and feel like I wasted my money.
