Came in around 5:30PM in the middle of the week for an early dinner but the place is already crowdy. Did not take long to get a table. Order half dozen local VA oyster ($12) and fried oyster dinner ($24) with apple slaw. By the time I left, the whole parking lot is jam with cars; no parking is available even thought they already have pretty bit parking lot. Suggest use Uber or Lyft if you plan to arrive near prime dinner hours.
This was my first visit. I got a crab cake sandwich with fries and a fried shrimp basket. Not sure why I got a $5 table upcharge fee on my bill when I walked in ordered take-out and waited for it. The receipt was stapled to the bag when she brought the food out I didnt notice until I got home. The food was ok but I won't be going back because I feel any extra charges should be explained not a surprise at the end. Especially for a table up charge when you didnt use a table.
Felt like you were on the water! Great food, service, and atmosphere! I got the Harpoon combo... my only complaint is the crab cake lacks seasoning. But the rest was delicious! Cool spot in Newport News, I would go back again. Make a reservation if you can, this place is busy on Friday!
