Foul odor when I sat down to eat. Also had a huge fly that I had to keep swatting. Food was bland
Horrible experience.

Very confused on to why online google and reviews say open at 930. I got here at 1015am, lights on but open sign off, door unlocked , gentleman told me they dont open until 11am. He acted like he had no idea the place says opened .

Best hidden gem that I know of in Newport News. Not that there aren't other great places, but the prices and quality of food here is a rare value that I keep coming back for.

We came in with 4 generations of family (10).
Everyone ordered something different and it was all good. Our college age grandkids really loved the food, and me too. You will see my wife and I on a date night soon. I've been passing out the menus to our neighbors as well.

Sorry, I have to update my review. I've visited this restaurant a few times before and it's always been great. Never had an issue. This last time, however, was not good at all. As soon as we walked in I could sense we weren't welcome. We had to ask to get a drink order and when he did he seemed very annoyed and would whisper things under his breath as he left the table. After we got our drinks we decided to eat elsewhere. As we paid for the drinks he pressed us on why we were leaving. I told him I didn't want to discuss it with him and that we would just like to pay for our drinks and leave. He wouldn't take my card and kept aggressively asking why. I told him one more time I'm not going to engage with him and to just let me pay for my drink. He finally took my payment and stormed off and started slamming chairs. Why someone thinks it's ok to behave like that while running a restaurant is beyond me. They've lost my patronage forever.

Authentic Turkish atmosphere and delicious Mediterranean dishes, prepared as close to the real thing in America as you're going to get. My personal favorite is the iskender doner plate.

I went there for a quick lunch. Had to get my own menu and find my own seat. The drinks are all can sodas so there were no refills to be given. The man (Atakan) was rude throughout my dining experience. So I left a small tip based on service. Soon as he saw my tip he started cursing loudly first in his language then in English. I'm a very threatening manor came up to the table and started snatching items off the table (while cursing at me). Chosing not to engage I stood up and politely left without conflict. I just wanted to warn potential diners this may NOT be the place you want to dine in. If you want this food please order out!!!

We aren't from the area, but love a Turkish food. We stopped by this place on our way through town and were very happy with the service & meal. The restaurant is nicely decorated, and the food was flavorful and great! We had kebabs (lamb and doner), babaganus, and baklava. All of this was very good, hope we get the chance to come back!
